My little plants dont look so good

Hello All,

Not really getting alot of action in the newbie section so I thought I would try here.

This is my first grow and I am getting concerned about the lack of progress my plants have made. They are a week and a half old and dont seem to be growing or developing as quickly as I thought they would.

Strains:
Purple Wreak x2
Cheese x1
Bag Seed x 1

They popped up out of the ground on 3/23 and havent done much since, there has been minor developments, but they havet grown any taller. The bag seed was planted a few days later, and of all of them, seems to be doing the best.

I took pictures with a standard bic lighter so you can see just how tiny they are. They have been about 18" below my cool tube 600watt hps light since day 1.

Lighting: 18/6

Temp Range: 80 degrees w/ lights on, 65 degrees with lights off

Humidity: 20-30%

Nutes: I fed them once at 1/4 strength with FF Big Bloom on day 5 (ppm was 210)

Watering/Soil: (Note) They were in 3" coco pots with light warrior soil, but I transfered them yesterday to gallon pots. I put 3-4" of ocean forrest on the bottom and filled the rest with light warrior.

When they were in the coco pots I had to water every 24 hours becuase the soil dried out so quick.

I watered them into the new gallon pots until water dripped out the drain holes, now I dont plan on watering again for 4-5 days

I allow my tap water to sit out for a day or two to dissapate the chlorine and then adjust the Ph to 6.5

I am concerned because the leaves on both my purple wreak plants are curling down and are slightly yellowish. The cotyledons on one of the plants is already starting to turn brown (which is normal) but I thought the plant would have grown a little more before that happened.

They sprouted their next set of adult leaves about 5 days ago, and they havent developed at all since then.

When I transfered the plants, the roots were poking out the bottom of the coco pots.

Here are my other plants. Cheese looks ok...but again, still not really developing. The bag seed is about 4 days behind the others.

So I guess my question is do these plants look ok? Am I over reacting or is something going wrong?

Any help is appreciated, thanks for the read and any responses.

You burnt the hell out of them so all growth stopped...seedlings are not supposed to be fed at all...that is why they are bright yellow...here is what you do...take a cup of warm water and mix in 5 tblsp of regular sugar...then mix that water with a gallon of water at the proper pH...then water with that...sugar binds nitrogen and it might help...to tell ya the truth though...I don't know...they might start turning crispy and brown...but you aren't going to see any growth until the nitrogen in the soil is used...and it won't be by plants that aren't growing due to too much nitrogen...so water them with sugar and then leave them alone for a minimum of 4 days...if in 4 days they are still alive then continue as normal but don't you feed them anything until they have at least 2 sets of serrated leaves. So 4 large serrated leaves before food...always!

They are doing terrible...but it is a common problem..maybe not usually at this stage though...lol.

Ugh...I couldnt get any good help on nutes, so much conflicting info >.<

So I went with FF's feeding scehdule and just cut it down to 1/4. They were doing shitty before I fed them lol, but I guess feeding them was the wrong thing to do.

If you are so sure that you can help me, please solve my plant problems here and I will think about going there.

Telling me to post somewhere else is a) annoying, b) a dick move, because these people do actually help and c) you already PM'd me, I got it...your site is awesome...so moving on to the issue at hand, my plants.

The seed embryos contain enough food to feed the seedling about 5-7 days. After that, they will need food. Follow the manufacturers recommendations for cuttings and seedlings at this stage.

The reason your plants are growing so slowly at this stage is because they are developing roots as opposed to vegetation. Seeds can take some time to establish roots, that's why many prefer to use mother plants and take cuttings for cloning.

Above, keep in mind that what you are growing is a weed, or a herb, and it doesn't need a lot of special care. One of the problems with forums is that you'll receive all kinds of strange advice, such as sugar/water mixtures, using syrup or molasses, etc... It's all witchcraft. Simply stick to the basics and you'll do fine. Make sure the seedlings have adequate lighting, CFL is fine at that stage. Do not over water, let the soil dry from time to time so the roots receive oxygen. Monitor and control PH to prevent nute lockout. Keep an eye on humidity and temperature.

KISS keep it simple

They've been under a 600w hps light since day one.

Any comment on the yellowish color on the purple wreak plants?

You won't need that much light for a few weeks. Save the bulb and your electricity. The picture looked fine to me. the biggest problem with most new growers is they tend to worry way too much about their plants. Let the soil dry out a bit from time to time, feed as instructed and you'll be fine.....

I suggest you read the Marijuana Growers Guide or pick up a Jorge Cervantes DVD and learn the basics. You are wasting your light bulb and the power to run it at this stage.

Thanks Serapis. You're right, I have been really worried about my plants. I see some people post pics of week old plants that are huge and have several sets of adult leaves, I am just confused why my plants don't look that way.

But, it seems like you think they are ok and I just need to be patient. I wasn't really into the whole sugar water idea, I would have just started over if I had really damaged them.

At what point should I be worried?

don't really have any other lighting options at the moment. It is too cold in my basement not have a light that kicks off heat.

In that case, use the light, just keep it about 18-24" above the plants, but consider getting a t5 set up and a heating mat. I've yet to see true one week seedlings with several sets of adults leaves. Remember, a lot of what you find in forums is BS and braggin, very little truth behind some of it. Seedlings can take 2-3 weeks before they truly enter a veg state. They have to establish roots first so they can provide food and water to the plant.

I know waiting on seedlings to show growth can be nerve wracking when you first begin. Just let em be, they'll be fine...

Allright, Ill carry on for another 2 weeks and see where they are then. Might come crawling back for some more wisdom.

It's all good man. They will take time to focus on root development before they start getting noticeably bigger. I find that going from seed, about week 4 is when i start to notice growth. Good luck dude, and relax, these things take time.
