My New Setup Is Getting Too Hot?

Well as it seems my tent is getting to hot. With a high of

91 yesterday. The filter doesn't seem to have much

suction but I've never had one so I'm not sure if it's just

normal and fine. The tent is 5×5×7 tent with a 600w cool

tube and a 440 cfm inline fan. Maybe the light is too

close to the canopy? Also maybe air is leaking from duct

connections because i only used hose clamps should I

tape them as well. Not sure if passive intake is

bringing in enough air? Should I have just one passive

intake or multiple? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Get rid of the bends they restrict airflow. What's the temp of the room the tents in? You need to exhaust that air outside the room the get the temp down.

How big is your intake holes? Intake should be 12x12 with 6'' a exhaust or equal to 12x12. Ambient temps at 78 is alittle high to but your setup should cool that 600w easily if set up right.

you are exhausting the hot air from the light out of the room right ? you have it hook up backwards. you need to place the fan in the room blowing into the light , then the hot air get pushed out of the tent into the carbon filter . if this don't work you will need to exhaust the room. but hook it up correct it should work fine.

My tent survives with straight ducting on either end of the tube, slightly tilt so the heat travels up one end. Have a carbon filter attached to a fan..........and that is it.

I do have a fan inline with the tube also, but this rarely turns on by thermostat at canopy height.

So my exhaust needs to be 12"? Because my tent only

has 6" holes. Will multiple intake holes work or should

there only be one intake? Also I couldn't fit the fan filter

and cool tube in a straight line with no bends. Any ideas

to lessen the bends and make setup more straight line

are welcomed. Is the order that they are in correct? Tent

air -> Filter -> Cool Tube -> Fan -> Exhaust. What's the

Optimal way of setting it up? I was thinking about just

getting a portable a but that's more money and elec.

When I thought this fan should be able to easily cool and

vent this tent.

No you dont need to have 12x12 as long as your intake equals 12x12 like 2 6x6 holes. I run filter>hoods>fan>muffler/filter with no issues on 1ks but i also have 600's for veg that i run hood>fan>filter and the fan on the 600's are 6'' vortex's turned all the way down. Where are you placing your thermometer? It can not be hit directly by the light to get true reading. I stick mine at max plant height but shaded with no fan hitting it.

I have two 600 watt lights in big reflectors in a 5x5x7 tent with a single exhaust fan. In my winter configuration, I had the exhaust going out of the room to heat the rest of the house. But it got warm outside and the tent temps got well over 90°F. So I went to my summer config and put the exhaust up into the attic. Now tent temps barely get above 80°F. Get your exhaust out of the area.

To get more air flow from the fan, straighten the ducting. A single 90 degree bend is like added 15' of straight ducting.

The rule of thumb is to have a passive intake twice the size of the exhaust. Your round 6" exhaust has 28 sq.in. of area so you want about 60 sq.in. of passive intake. That could be two 6" circles, a single 8.5" circle, or a single 6" x 10" rectangle. Since hot air rises, you want to keep the intakes low.

You fit 600 in there.

I thought one 440 cfm fam would ventilate a 5×5×5 tent?

I just cut a hole in my ceiling to rid of the exhaust better

And I going to flower at night and see how that goes

My ceiling is low though so there isn't a lot of space to vent to up there. Is that a problem, do you think it will fill then just leak back into the room? Also

ideas for straighten the filter to light? Doesn't really fit in a straight line, but I'm going to play around with it a little bit. As well my intake are at the top?

There is 2 6" holes and the top and two 4" holes open at the bottom. Good/Bad?

Anybody? I've been at at school and work all day can't wait till later to check and see temps did today.

The temps seem to be fine at mid canopy level but when taken at the very top canopy level they are higher considerably. Does direct light affect temp measurement?

Also this cfl setup I have for some seeds I just started

which were in the grow tent, I hope high temps didn't kill

them. I've moved them since 5 aka and 2 bag seed only

the bag seed popped and look healthy ironically. The

point here is it seems the metal hood is keeping heat in

the cfl part and the plastic extender piece smells like it's

burning? So I hope these seeds are good, I plan to throw

Them into so bigger pots and flower after I can get the

My tent properly setup. Cheers

That's where I pick up high temps from light but when I

lower it a bit and behind the leafs a bit in a bit of shade

temp goes down a good bit. Which is more accurate?

I don't think I have enough room to exhaust into my ceiling? It's like a foot tall but stuffed with insulation. Thoughts?20140303_202526.jpg
