my new strange light

this is a pic of the new light i just bought, i still need help figuring out if it metal halide like i am told it is or if it hps because it is 600 watts supposedly, but i cant find a 600 watt mh bulb. take a look

It should say on the ballast somewhere. You may need to open the box to read it.

ok so you thin the ballast is built in to this unit somewhere?

I was going to say it looks like you just bought a reflector and are going to need to purchase a ballast and bulb, possibly an ignitor.

That's just a lamp holder and reflector - it's neither MH or HPS at the moment. That will depend on what plug you have at the end of the flex coming out of the lamp holder and whether it has the right fitting to plug into a MH or HPS ballast - which you'll need.

If it simply has a standard power outlet plug at the end then it's probably set up for Envirolites as they share the same E40 lamp holder fitting as MH and HPS bulbs.

So, it's neither at the moment - it's just a lamp holder and reflector.
