My opinion on flushing cannabis. (Yet another)

But you didn't address the issue of the spurious adiabat. An answer as dismissive as yours is universally recognized as an insult of the type "insulting the intelligence of the interlocutor". Insulting Annie's intelligence, quite aside from being rude, is extremely unlikely to survive objective review. I can recommend a survival strategy: check your facts, and check their context. Then Annie and I won't be compelled to point out your massive fail.
“The issue of the Spurious Adiabat”

That sounds like the title of a new childrens fantasy mystery series. :-)

Mmmmmmmmmm vaping. What do you use for vaping dry herb? I'm set for concentrates, but ive yet to find something for flower that i am happy with.
I love my Arizer Solo 2, actually have two of them (backup for when the battery needs charging). Previously had two of the original Solos. Cannot smoke it anymore, taste like I licked an ashtray. Vaping is so pleasant with all the unique flavors.

I'm not here to debate semantics, but intention has nothing to do with it. Just because you're being wasteful on purpose doesn't mean you aren't being wasteful. Hell, it's your weed so waste it if you want, but if i was unwilling to hit a bowl that has been hit already i would turn 100% of my harvest into concentrates instead of the 75% i do now. I just can't abide wasting something that i put time, money, and love into producing.
Precisely do what you want but please do not try to gas light me by suggesting you are doing something different.

Much like chemistry students that don't understand that drawing hot air through weed is called vaping and it removes THC, CBD, and terpenes from weed.
LOL again it's those pesky technicalities isn't it? You have to specify the temp of the air away from the point of highest temperature and take in to consideration the delta T along the path as well as the conductivity of cannabis (hint moistness matters).

Adiabat noted in first reference I posted. Both sources I provided are consistent with the temp I approximated. So...if they got it wrong. I got it wrong.
You seem to be arguing that the heat applied to a bowl does not degrade the bud on the bottom of the bowl? Really?

No. I am arguing against the flame temperature guessticlaims you posted having anything to do with the real world.

I try to pack my bowl like a one hitter. Which for me means about half a bowl. I'm usually able to drag the whole bowl in one go to where I see the embers go out. I hate relighting burnt weed. I was wasting a lot like you until I went to this method about three bowls after seeing how much I was throwing away.
Basically, if you are throwing weed away, pack less weed in it. You can always pack another.

In a group setting where I didn't pack the bowl, it's bad etiquette to knock all of the green off of a huge bowl if you are the first one. Everyone I know lights from the side so that everyone else gets green, too. I do pass on the 2nd go around though, simply because I hate it.
Not something that happens here in Australia, Its a cone per person. But we seem to be a Bong culture not a bowl culture.

You asked me for a source of information on butane lighters producing temps of 3500F, I supplied it. I did not say the air pulled through a bowl is that temp. My thesis is that the air is hot enough to vape off goodies. I’ll be nice if you be nice. I’ll be dismissive if you are dismissive. That is karma.

I use to think the bud on the bottom became more potent.

I have no proof but here is how i looked at it.

I use to use a chamber pipe.
The bud stored in the chamber fir a few days would have extra resin.

Not tasty but extra sticky.

Now a shallow bowl wouldn't have the same effect due to extreme temps.

But a deep over packed bowl
As it was hit the resin would melt and good ole gravity would take the resin to the lower portion

My evidence is the fact that my bong stem use to get full of resin which got me baked even if it tasted like ass.

Also the resin present on the chamber weed.

If a Bic was burning anywhere near 3000F you wouldn't be able to wave the flame around your skin without it melting off. I've run my fingers through propane torch flames and those burn way hotter than a Bic. :dunce: 3000F lol, you could weld with it.

It seems that butane can burn at a theoretical max of 1970C, or 3578F in perfect lab conditions. This was picked up by someone and is now all over the internet as the temperature that bic lighters burn at. More realistic estimates seem to be in the range of 450C to 800C or 842F to 1472F.

Whatever the right answer is, it seems reasonable to believe that some portion of the heat will be drawn down the bowl or down the joint and degrade the unburned weed. I'm not aware of anyone that has tested a roach vs. original bud to see the level of degradation so feel free to dismiss my belief. I still prefer greenies. :bigjoint:
