I'm just starting my first plant outside. I have done some inside hydroponics in the past but now I am restricted to having just one little girl to grow and tie down on my deck. I was told it is an Indica clone and only has 3 nodes on the leaves so far. Would like to clone it later on myself, but I'm new to growing in soil. Any help would be appreciated. Here's a picture for any feedback. Thanks.

Healthy plant!
To begin with, soil mass equals buds. When your plant gets a little taller, either transplant your baby to a larger pot, or add dirt to within an inch of the rim. Remove any leaves that will get buried, but branches should be left, because once buried they'll produce feeder roots, adding to the plant's vigor.
Don't think about clones until she's about two feet tall to prevent weakening her. If you like, send me a pic when you're ready to take cuttings, and I can give you an idea about how to proceed.

Thanks for the advice, I will stay with this pot, but will add the soil today as you said. Started to tie down and will do my best to circle the rim of the top of the pot. This is all new to me, but It is going to be fun. I am retired and have plenty of time and motivation.

Something many folks don't know about LST is that it is best started when the plant is at least a foot tall. Two is better.
The best time to start is at transplanting time.
The first step is to plant the plant crooked/leaned over at a 45 degree angle. This makes the rest very easy. Look for MCR #1 for a good example of this, in this thread.
Here are all the pix of the MCR #1. They're not in order, but I think you'll get the idea.

LST has two uses. Stealth, and increased yield. Increased yield is best achieved by spreading the canopy as wide as possible, by leaning the main stem and side branches horizontally, spreading like a spider from its base.
Take your time. Haste is wasted effort with young plants. Many die from too much love. Let them grow, taking necessary steps when necessary, and not before.
My last piece of advice, which applies to all gardens and gardeners.
BE CONSISTENT. Water, feed and inspect regularly. Avoid using any technique that makes visual inspection less frequent.

I've replaced the Trainwreck clones numbered #2 and #3 with two others that have been under an augmented photoperiod. I've been running a small CFL in this greenhouse to keep the Trainwreck #1 in veg and prevent early blooming by the others.

I was reading your post on Hodges thread about us living in the same area. I lived in the Sacramento area from "87" to "90" went to Sierra College in Rocklin. Also lived on the Delta too....Walnut Grove on the Sacramento River, fun time in my life when I was young, dumb, and full of ... I worked as a bartender at a spot called "Sam's Place" in Walnut Grove, we would party until 2:00am at the bar then off to the "Locks" to fish until morning (or pass out in our chairs). If your from the Delta you know what the "Locks" are. Like I said, FUN TIMES. Hard to believe that 20+ years have passed, had to re-think the dates when I responded to Hodges thread about fishing at Nimbus Dam. Not 15-20 years ago, but over 20 years, how time fly's.

I've had my share of cats. I've had a couple of really cool ones. We had 23 cats at one time, in our house, about 30 years ago. You couldn't sit down in my house, without moving a cat! But, that's another story!
I have 1 dog, now! lol!
