What the hell is this about, can someone educate me please!

When the caribean immigrants really started making a mass exodus to canada they wanted to bring a piece of there culture with them. So they introduced Caribana in 1962. It started off as just a music festival, and in 1967 they introduced the costumes, and it's blown up ever since. 1.5 mil people come every year.

wow!! amazing!
does anyone make there own costumes or do they just buy them.
woooweee i see them bein expensive!!
they are really beautiful outfits tho

Everyone buys them. They're not too expensive. About 150 for a standard costume and 200 for a frontline costume. They also have a blue devil costume for 75 bucks, and all they do is run around being rude, and blowing baby powder on people. lol

It started out as a religious thing. The people dressed up to keep evil spirits at bey. It's easy. You just find a group you want to join. There are anywhere from 10-12 different bands. We went with Saldenah Carnival (www.saldenahcarnival.com) You just find a costume you like, pay the money (150 bucks) and your in the parade. Some people do make there own costumes just to be fun, but they end up staying behind the barricades. You should really come it's a fantastic experience.
