my plan

My room is 3x3x6. I have it split in two. Up top is vegging area which so far is a sucsess. Then down low (about 4ft in height outa the 6) is my flowering area. At first I wanted to use all cfls for both flowering and veg. But I think that I'm going to invest into a 400w hps for just the flowering and keep my cfls for seedlings/veg. Good idea?

sounds like a dream.. maybe make a smaller area at the bottom of the room for the veg/clones..
i think it will make it easier..

putting a 400 hps in such a confined space will require a lot of ventilation to keep ur heat down, ive tried it myself so i speak from experience, i had to keep the door open when the light were on. also remember that u must make sure when ur flowering light is off that no light leaks from ur vegging area above( where are u gonna vent to if ur vegging area is above?) i'd consider a 250watt or less supplemented by sum fluros at the side .
also u mite consider topping or lst if u only have 4' in height.
