My Plants Stink! =O what to do?

OMFG!!!

I moved everything into my cabinet last week. They have been growing like crazy! But they freaken stink! Even with my DIY carbon filter the house is smelling pretty bad.

What else can I do?

The cabinet is sealed pretty good, and I'm running out of ideas here. I'm only a few days into flowering and they already smell strong. can only imagine another month down the road =O

geez i hope i dont have that problem. im about 1.5 months into flowering and no smell yet, but people say its coming. i cant imagine trying to hide it during the entire flowering process. does the DIY carbon filter not work that good? if you have bits of carbon in there, try crushing them up with a hammer every few days to generate more surface area

If I place my nose on my DIY carbon filter I smell nothing. but placing my nose around the doors of my cabinet i can smell the stink

ive also had a fan on my plants for a few weeks...so i know that makes um stinky =O...its just badseed also so who knows wtf plants they are...i know a couple of them are really strong...but some have no smell at all..its weird


I think I might try doing that febreeze bucket thing and placing it on top of my cabinet....i mean our house usually smells really good....when i walk in the door i get a BAM knock you over smell of dankness =O...which is no good!

i have a small febreeze air filter thing right outside the closet door, and our house has those febreeze plugins all over the place...still smelly

gonna make a bucket with febreeze and a fan and see how it goes

hold on. Do you have an exhaust fan running through your DIY carbon filter?? or are you just letting the air chill in the room without being pulled out by a fan? im asking because the DIY filter works really well if made right. Do you have any pics of your setup??

You can put it in the grow area and it won't hurt the plants, it uses UV/Ozone (very small tiny amounts), Neg Ion (Catches particles including smelly ones floating in the air), and Carbon Filtration and comes with a free bulb and carbon filter spares. and has 2 settings they are rated for 1000sq ft this covers my grow room/closet and the neighboring room just fine. took about 30 minutes with the door closed to fully clear the room, I leave it on high 24/7 and haven't smelled a thing in that room since. When I touch the plants my hands still get smelly.

yup they do. you can also get yourself a tower fan that doubles as an ionizer. Those things are double the bang for your buck. can get one for 50 bucks, cool off your plants, and ionize the smell at the same time. excellent buy for sure. got one myself, lol.

yes i have an exhaust fan...al though its only a pc fan =p...but a pretty strong one..im thinking its not strong enough...so its not pulling all the air otu that way so the stinky gets out..like i said the smell coming out of the DIY carbon filter is fine...just stinky elsewhere on the cabinet

not looking to spend that much more $ =O...already spent double what i originally planned..im thinking a bottle of febreeze in a bucket and make use a fan i already have laying around...

ozone generators work alright, but a real carbon filter is a lot better, your money would have been better spent on one of those.

Wouldnt do me any good....my exhaust fan is just a pc fan. it doesnt generate enough airflow to suck all the smell out through the carbon filter.

between my DIY carbon filter and this filter should keep everything smelling fine

By the look of your cabinet doors, I don't see how they would seal very good.

Weatherstripping around the doors and make sure they are shut pretty tight along with a new fan would be less than that $60 you just spent I would think.

But everything helps and I think you made a good investment

You have to have a fan with a good cfm rating. I do not see how a computer fan will work for you. I may be wrong but lets say you have a fan thats rated at 250 cfm. When you hook your ducts and filter 2 it it cuts that rate in half. So you are looking at 125 cfm.
What you need to do is get the cubic feet of your grow space and then get a fan that even after the subtraction for the ducts and filter will filter properly. Also do you have an inlet?

Growing weed stealthly and smartly requires that light leaks and odors be priorty # 1. I had odor issues on my first grow where one day when I pulled in my driveway, I could smell weed!! Work on it you will get it right.:bigjoint:

It's a work in progress ;)

I need to invest in a better exhaust fan. i was worried about noise though =O.

my intake fan seems do me doing ok...i might have bite the bullet and buy one of those expensive exhaust fans...cause i feel my pc fan isnt sucking enough out
