My second windowsill grow. Hoping to learn from the mistakes of my first one...

We're getting close!






I could do with your opinions on this...

The high I'm looking for is heady & relaxed without being super-trippy. The bulk of these plants are indica whereas the free seed I got is more of a hybrid.
I think I'll let the hybrid mature to the point where at least 70% of the trichomes are amber. That one's supposed to be pretty intense so I'll wait for it to (hopefully) mellow out a bit. The growth time is supposed to be 8 weeks & we're now 2 days away from week 9.

The others I'm not so sure about. I don't want too much of a "couch-lock" vibe so when do you think I should harvest them? They're changing shade quite quickly but are supposed to take 10-11 weeks. It all feels kind of early.

The plant that got some mild LST is actually behind, in terms of changing shade, so I'll base my decision for that one on how I harvest the others in the same family.

DAY 72...

it's been a while. After asking a whole bunch of stuff in another thread, this thread has become more of a diary, showing the general growth of the plants. They're all fine but we'll start with the smallest...




All the fan leaves fell off well over a week ago & even smaller leaves are now turning pale & basically coming off in my hands. Not a huge amount of change in pistil colour so most likely at least another week or 2 until harvest.

Next up, the plant with minor LST. I'm sure now, if I'd done a better job of training the growth, this would be showing the biggest yield...



Some very healthy sized buds in several areas but also a little behind still, in terms of harvest time. 2 weeks more?

And then the 2 heavy hitters. Both racing for 1st prize but one is showing a big change in colouration...



The one on the left has a shorter life cycle & has changed colour quiite drastically over the last week...



It can't be much longer for this one, surely?

And finally the one with the biggest buds, particularly at the top of the main stem...



2 or 3 of the largest fan leaves will be dead in a few more days but I think this one's gonna turn out great!!

I've added molasses to their diet. So basically 3ml of Bio-bloom with an extra 2ml of molasses for every litre they get. It's been crazy hot here - almost too hot on the windowsill - so they're drinking very well every second day.

The whole flat smells incredible

They are looking nice, love the pinky/purple hues showing in some.. but I think they have another 3-4weeks at least before they have swollen properly

Wow, nice job. Obviously the relative lack of light has kept them small and thin, but they look happy and healthy enough. I have no idea how much light they've actually gotten, but they should give you some nice bud, so I'd call this a successful windowsill grow, which is no small feat.

I have the space and gear for bigger grows but this has me inspired to throw an auto or two in a window just to play around and have something to look at. It'll be an ornamental grow for me, and if I get something smokable, so much the better.

Congrats! Looks really good for a windowsill grow. Next time you should try making your own feminized seeds! Its fairly simple and it would keep you stocked up on auto flower seeds for a while.

If any of you have time I'd appreciate your opinion on whether or not it's time to harvest one of my plants.

It's the Glueberry OG freebie, now showing all the signs of maturing so pulling the trigger is probably imminent.
It's just past 11 weeks now &, under normal grow lamp conditions, should only take 8...

Pistils still fresh.and maybe they can hide a little bit more.

The light is much brighter today so a couple more pics...

Not even close you have weeks to go as many people have already stated. It's your grow. If you Wana pick early and have poopy weed that's up to you I guess.
Breeder timelines are completely useless. Harvest when plants are ready not by random numbers.

OK, good to know.

It's really just the one plant that I'm getting twitchy about. Impatience is kicking in a bit but I'm good.
These buds are already fatter than I'd expected. It'll be amazing if they swell up more!!

Yes but pistils dont get brown just from age.they get brown from light,feed,wind....
But in your case the buds still didnt grow big you can get 40% more weed if you wait a few more weeks

What i do whrn i get lazy i start smoking shugar leafs or just pluck a few buds and dry them.but early weed is strong as fuck and doesnt last long

Aye overfeed em you can brown em or if some idiot touches them they can go brown too there's a number of things that can brown em early

They got a fair bit of swell to go looking at it id say bud don't cut early you will thank yourself later that taking a tester thing early can be a slippery slope with some folk so it's best to just wait I think

Hm. That's pretty subjective. Most people wouldn't waste the time growing with sub par lighting and environment.... So you ask a bunch of guys who grow controlled rooms filled with big buds 'is it worth it to grow on a windowsill' and 95% will say no. I wouldn't be going around calling people goofballs, especially as a new member with ~100 posts.... That guy is right in his own sense. To him, or me it's 1000% pointless to grow on a windowsill. But to someone who smokes a joint a month or something maybe it is worth it? I duno? Never did it not worth my time and effort. Everyone has their own needs and if they are being met then there is no issue.

it can be as strong as the bud just tastes little bit harder. i used to do bong but now with a vape its really pleasant to smoke just the taste is little bit different.

well if you think about it a 100W light is 20$ and you can get 100+grams.you have to think that one grow is around 4-5 months of time with drying and curing.... to spend all that time on a window grow and get 10grams is a waste of time.you wont live forever.cost of growing is usually 2-3 cents a gram
