My Solis Tek ballast isn't working, or is it the bulb?

I just bought a Solis Tek Matrix and plugged in a 400w MH bulb. It flickered on a few times, but went right back to off. Now it is just staying off. Am I doing something wrong? It says 400 for watts on the digital part of the ballast and goes back and forth between that and E-05.

Its more than likely the bulb. Solis Tek are probably the best you can get. The same thing happened to me when I first put my MH into my lumatek. Its was flickering then it blew but started working again but flickered from time to time. You'll have to get another bulb to be sure though.

I've had new bulbs not fire.
It's happens some times.
Buy 2 bulbs next time. use the 2nd as a back up bulb.
IMO- you should have a back up bulb for every ballast your running. Just in case.

I think it has something to do with pulse start bulbs vs probe start bulbs. The low wattage MH has the incorrect start type. I put my 600 HPS and it works fine
