my stealthy grow space

well after completeing my first grow in an extra bathroom, its time to make it a little less obvious.

so ive been wanting to build some kind of storage/tv unit in my room for quite some time. and my original plan was to turn this wall into a closet or just a multi purpose wallunit. the left side well have a few drawers for clothes, a large verticle space with a door for shirts, and a multi purpose open shelf in the middle on the corner.
the middle will be for the tv, with spaces above and below for DVDs, cable box, etc. and another set of doors for more stuff.
and finally the whole right side will be my grow space. ~8' fall at 32" wide.

now heres were i could use some advice. this grow-op is for personnel use only. im only worried about myself, my roomie, and maybe an occasional hook-up. so im tyring to work out the logistics of plant heights etc. clones, mother, etc.
i dont think i have enough room to keep a mother and flowering area. so basicly the best i can come up with for the two areas are ~32" for flowering, and ~24" for mothers and clones... or... i maximize the height in the flowering area, and just keep a small area maybe only 1', for starting new seeds and the occasional cutting i take off lower branches before flowering. it wouldnt be the perfect cycle, but im not looking for a harvest every two weeks, but at least being able to start new seeds a few weeks before i harvest, and just having a small veg. area is better than nothing. those heights are from the bottom of the light to the top of my grow medium. (its a hydro setup by the way)

on with the rest, behind the flowering area i will have an 8" airgap for my vent, im just going to cut out a space in the ceiling drywall to allow it to vent into the attic. ill have a 3" gap between the middle tv area and the flowering area, where i can add intake fans, which will pull in fresh air from under the wallunit.

im not going to make a full door just for the grow area. ill more than likely match it up with the left, even if the space inside is different. i just dont want it to stand out. all the doors will be lockable too.

i dunno, its difficult to explain the looks, ill upload a pdf here shortly.

well got back on it this weekend, basicly got the space set-up. need to make the door, and everything else light tight. I just plugged everything up, waiting to see what kind of temps i get. ive got two of those small walmart fans up top for the exhaust, they vent into the attic. then one intake, which is connected to an a/c duct. still want to cut another hole in the side to pull air up from the bottom. its hovering around 85* at the moment. hopefully i can get it a little cooler.
pics it is.

ya, so obviously i need to work out this cooling issue... creeped up to 98*! temp in my house is usually kept around 78. outside highs have been 80's to low 90's. im allready planning on keeping the lights on at night time, and off during the hottest part of the day. but obviously some better venting is in order.

i probably should have got a refelecter that had the ability to vent. allthough im sure i could rig something up.

but anyway, should i try a lower watt bulb? maybe a 200w hps? (current is 400)
i might need some real fans, but i was trying to stick with what i allready had.
i also just cut a 4" square intake on the lower side, and put my other mini fan in front of it.

me personally i like actual fans ide get some more deff dont lower watt more light the better just work around the watts thats my opinion. well what ide do by the looks of the pics looks like there is some clearance in the back ide go with a box fan right in the back blowing out but not sure what demensions you got there but looks like 2ft to me lol but that is just my opinion. well good luck with what you decide will stick by!! =)

so ya, after running thru the night, prob about 10 hours. it reached 103* LoL.

i allready have a small tower fan in there, prob 18" tall and 8" wide.
i didnt expect it to be that bad...

i need to look more into the use of some larger computer fans maybe.
or cooling the light.

Damn, 103 degrees! Yeah you got to do something to lower that. Wasn't expecting that to happen.

yea deff get it down i have two mini desk fans one box fan right in the back blowing out and one close to growbox blowing around room and one near bed area blowing at box all the time untill its bed time. ive prob spent like 60-70dollars in fans ide just wait. think of an alternative for now save 100 bucks and buy like a btu 5000 ac portable unit thats my next big buy before i put the 400w hps up. thats just my suggestion but i would def try to keep under 90 anything over is just asking for them to all die lmao be careful. another thing you can do besides freezing everything and throwin shit in the grow area is buy some reflectix its a material that reflects and insulates keeping it cool just installed this past saturday and have gaind 5-10 degrees it stays like right at 80 and at night 75 so i do recomend that!! =) (even with the fact you have a diff light setup thats prob more heat then mine) 5-10 degrees is better then 100 degrees lmao! well good luck will stay tunes hope whatever you decide works!! =) Peace Smoke =One!!

Well I finally got back on it, had some other projects going on.
I got 2 large CPU casefans, 72 cfm each. My space is 24cu ft, so if my math is correct ; it will be clearing out x6 a minute?
Directly below the light, grow medium surface, I can keep it around 86*, but when the a/c is off it will start to rise into the low 90's. And ambient temps are generally 5 degrees or so lower, respectfully. I run the light 4pm-10am for veg. The prob is when the thermostat cuts off the a/c, my temps slowly rise over time. If I could just program it to come on more often, for short periods. I think I could make it work. Seems a little on the high side, but what do y'all think?
I removed the reflector for the light, so it just hangs from the middle. It's also a passive setup, I have a 4x4 square cut in the bottom corner to go along with the 4" a/c duct for intake. Any other ideas here? Another exhaust fan? Use an intake fan? Both?
Anyway thought I'd update, and try get some feedback. I wish I had read about the cooltube earlier, but I'm trying to get by without for the time being. But it's prob the best solution.
