my stem is purple?

I know this is an old post but i just had this question about my seedling and i'm going to have to say that one out of 3 of my girls had a purple stem. Upon transplanting the red stem had the largest root mass. I currently believe, from my observations, that the red stem (in seedlings) is a sign that the plant does in fact have a nutrient deff. but only up top. A large amount of nutrients and energy is being diverted to a healthy root-ball. My plants turned out to be extremely healthy. I would even go as far to suggest that a red stem in a week old plant is ready for 100ppm of N nutes. DONT over do it. Especially if you have soil that has been pre-mixed with nutes.

Hope this helps
