to much stress on autos to trim you can do it but with very short flowering and veg time the time itll take to recover may cost a bit for final yield try leaf tucking or using a screenNl automatic from sensi seed this my first grow there about 40 days old except 1 them it’s about 2 weeks younger I growing in coco coir 600 hps and using canna a and b and root juice call mag and carb load not sure when to throw the pk 13 14 into them going post picture of the others now any tips on anything
never knew anyone to top their auto way to go !
I fimmed mine (sour diesel) at 6 sites (main stem and 4 lower bud sites just below the main) as well as fimmed another site on the side just to see what would happen... and topped one because i snapped it and couldnt repair it so just took it all off as well as the nub and 2 rounds of defoliation and she is beastly. This pic is from about 5 days ago. She is all filled in now and more bud sites have appeared and/or climbed to the top...I wont be doing anymore LST on them as I dont want to risk breaking the stems. If i do any tying it will be only to support the stems/buds when they start growing in. I have about another 3-4 weeks left on this onenever knew anyone to top their auto way to go !
sure would like to see a dozen done this way and a dozen not touched. looks like you're on to somethingI fimmed mine (sour diesel) at 6 sites (main stem and 4 lower bud sites just below the main) as well as fimmed another site on the side just to see what would happen... and topped one because i snapped it and couldnt repair it so just took it all off as well as the nub and 2 rounds of defoliation and she is beastly. This is after the last round of LST and defoliation. She get to affected from first cut imo. I also fimmed my dark devil only at one bud site (the main stem). Dark devils from the last 3 I have grown I dont think like being fucked with.
So im going to say the auto myth about topping/fimming is definitely true. its a myth. lol.

FYI: she is a little droopy because she's was out of the light for about 30mins while I was doing the LST on her and it was watering day as well. A long process (LST) but well worth it in the end.
thx man. I am pushing for 50 plus bud sites on this auto. Did not expect this at all tbh. Was hoping for it with the way I was training her but definitely did not expect all of her bud sites to be so prominent. She should begin her stretch around the end of this week and be ready by end of February is what I am anticipating. Well she better be because I am running out of room and my photos are going to need to be flipped 12/12 within a month or so...So I am hoping she will be done by end of Feb latest so I can harvest her and let the 2 other photos run their course.sure would like to see a dozen done this way and a dozen not touched. looks like you're on to something
your NLs are looking nice too. Cant wait to see them when they finish up...I have a couple northern lights as well. First one I made, the second one is from blimburn. At 11 and 12 weeks old. Slow growing over here.
Your plants look perfect.
Yeah to block the light from hitting the right part of the plant . As long as you do it at specific times (like the schwazzing technique), I think you are fine. I’ll be applying my technique (similar to schwazzing) towards my photos which I should be flipping within 3-4 weeks.Don't trim. Those leaves are there for a reason. Removing leaves hurts yield.
Keep me posted on how you get on buddyI have a couple northern lights as well. First one I made, the second one is from blimburn. At 11 and 12 weeks old. Slow growing over here.

Don't believe that. The right part of the plant. What does that even mean. Those old big fan leaves you lopping off are syncs full of reserves for the plant. Why hack them off?Yeah to block the light from hitting the right part of the plant . As long as you do it at specific times (like the schwazzing technique), I think you are fine. I don’t think my plant (an auto too) was affected negatively by the technique I applied to it besides rewarding me with many bud sites... going to be setting the branches so they stay in best position to grab light.
However I do agree if your new and have no clue what you are doing don’t do it. I’m new at growing what we grow but have gardened for many many years and have researched a large amount info and spoke to a few good growers...
I was being silly with the right part of the plant comment...Don't believe that. The right part of the plant. What does that even mean. Those old big fan leaves you lopping off are syncs full of reserves for the plant. Why hack them off?
I've yet to see a side by side grow show cutting leaves of improves yield.
Leaves drive the plant. Every study for various ants say that removing leaves hurt yield.I was being silly with the right part of the plant comment...
I’ve actually not done a side by side by imo my plant is growing wonderfully with my method. Granted I have no clue what she would be like if I had just let her grow without touching her.
But from what I see with her, she is loving what I’m doing. She’s also an auto and I expect a decent yield from her unless somehow removing some of the fan leaves will make all of her 45 or so Bud sites make small buds. I’m pretty sure what I’ve been doing has given me a large amount of bud sites vs what I would have had if I didn’t defoliate, LST, and/or leaf tuck or other tricks I’ve tried. However I’ve researched enough to know if done correctly it can only help you tremendously...I’ll have to try it out on my photos and come back with results. But who can resist having 45 or more bud sites? Why would you not want all your plants having that many or more bud sites.
I do agree tho that if you don’t defoliate properly, you could definitely hurt yields...however, something I’m doing I believe is on point so if done correctly, it can give you killer results.
Just my two cents.
