My very first attempt

OK,
This is what I'm starting out with for my very first grow attempt . . .

5" Peat Pots (starters)
3 Gal Nursery pots
Vermiculite (Medium grade)
Pearlite (Course grade)
Jungle Growth Premium Potting soil
Osmocote 14-14-14 Smart Release Plant Food (going to switch to compost tea when I get my composter/brewer going)
Homemade 3litre c02 generator (for homemade c02 curtain)
Does Onagel work as well as some say it does?
I saw someone on this site using it in a 5gal bucket with an Onagel/water mix, and with a 10" fan laying face down on the bucket, blowing DOWN into the bucket
It was vented thru holes and slots cut into the bucket above the water/Onagel mix level
They claimed it pushed the air into the gel/water thereby eliminating the odor

Is this really viable odor control?
If so, I may wait awhile to get my in-line blower and carbon filter

Money is tight, and I am sacrificing my medication to buy the supplies for my start-up

AUTO BERRY FEMINIZED :weed:

My space is 3' deep, 5 1/2' tall, 6' length
(18 sq. feet, 99 cu ft volume)

I'm hoping this is enough space for 5 to 6 adult plants, and has sufficient lighting and ventilation
I still have a few things to pickup
. . .
Your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated
Thanks

Budbro 18,
Are HPS really necessary? I've been reading a lot the past few weeks, and many say the florescent lights work well, and there is no need for HPS, MH etc
Is there a big difference in yield or something?
Thanks

Yes.

Essentially you could have enough fluorescents to equal an HID lighting system but it will consist of many more bulbs, ballasts, fixtures, and energy consumption.

Simply put HID lighting produces more bang for your buck. Lumens/watt.

X amount of watts of fluorescents can produce about 1/2 the lumen output of an HID system (not exact %)

They throw a little more heat but considering you wont have to replace 6-12 bulbs every 6-12 months will save you plenty, ontop of increased yeild with no increase in your power consumption.

I do think what you have is perfect to start the learning process of growing with and you won't have too many problems with that set up except yield.

Also when it comes to odor control. Youd be best off investing in a carbon filter sooner than later.

The ona gel will "mask" the smell but if you end up gettin to stinky itll just add a nice smell to the smell of kuh.

Also you only need it after the first month or so of flowering. Depending on strain. Some start smellin in veg!

Any more questions just ask.

So id run it until you get everything worked out with your strain, nutes, environment, etc...

If you can handle the heat hps is the way to go! A 1000watt hps puts out around 140,000 lumens, my 13wayy cfl does around 1000... U will need 140 13watt cfls to match that... But! Cfls u can get more coverage all around the sides.. I got 400watt hps and ur 150watt cfls on my sides.
