The strain is godfather OG. When I look online I am seeing bright orange hairs, looks similar to picks. Oh man I really hope you were wrong. I saw all white with a bunch of amber. I lest it for almost 9 weeks
As T Cat said - you pulled too early.

Once again plants do not follow set “ weeks “ or other marketing BS. They finish on their own terms -regardless of kitty kat calendars . 9 weeks to plant means nothing - it will mature according to your environment alone not what is on paper.

Your environment / skill / lighting all play into final result. Pistils on that bud are not receded much.
Pistils “ can “ be present at harvest but you want them to mature. Bad taste is not from flushing - it is from immaturity and possibly other factors.

Do you have proof of this theory? Sure pulling a plant at 4 week will likely taste bad (I don’t know if anyone who has tried it) but pulling a week or 2 early will not have an adverse affect on the taste of a strain, it will alter the effects from the strain though.

I have been using the same setup since 2018 this has never happened to me.
I will check it out when I get home andpost
since you’re not sure what you’re using I’ll just say this:

If you using salt based fertilizers and over feeding, the flush you typically do at the end is likely beneficial to the end product, which includes taste. I ran salts for years and one thing I found early was I always got a white salt build up on the bottom of my pots, that could not be washed away. Much research and trial led me to change my feed schedule and the salt build up issue was gone and my plants remained happy and healthy. By the last week or 2, rather than flush I lightened my dose of nutes in hope of the plant taking up any excess nutes from the medium. I also played with the PH of my waterings in the last couple weeks since cannabis uptakes different nutes better at varied ph levels.

If salt based is not what you’re using please ignore me

White bottoms can be from the calcium buildup from water too. Hard water can do that.

No theory - immature harvests are what they are .
More chlorophyll , immature flowers , immature calyx , etc.

Just like a fruit - too green

Pulling a plant that was actually close to finish by a week or two wouldn’t be as much as a problem compared to a plant that has some late blooming to do still. Patience is the key.

It is too easy to pull early than pulling “ too late “.

Plants will not magically become non consumable after 8 or 9 weeks according to some breeder bullshit.
Many growers find even going past that 9 weeks will bring better results. Even autoflower.

Looking for a cloudy vs. amber “ ratio “ is not a reliable method either. Triches grow and die over grow. Some strains don’t really amber much at end either. Most triches will begin to decay when plant dies and dries anyways. Many growers here even tossed out their scopes and pull based on flowers final look.

OP can try Dry Herp vape ( instead of rolled ) that would help by eliminating combustion. Since weed is heated by air not combustion / burning , you will find the flavor better.

Adjusting the heat settings will lead to changes in flavor and vapor density. Lower temperatures mean heartier flavor and sparser vapor, while higher temperatures result in less-tasty vapor and fuller clouds.

Plus the ABV ( already been vaped ) end product can be used in edibles and other ways.

pulling plants early doesn’t allow them to reach their full potential terpene or flavonoid production.

It also doesn’t allow them to finish the bulking up period where they build density. That density can have a major impact on how slowly they dry. If you harvest early and have low density buds it is very easy to dry too fast and run into flavor and smell issues. Pretty simple really, everyone knows how important the drying process is.

I really think I waited long enough about 10$amber and all white, leaves were dying it was ready. Someone mentioned it looked early due to the hairs but godfather OG ar known for the long orange hairs.
Let me say it smells amazing. I hope the taste will come around.
Here are a couple pics of GOG, I feel mine looks similar. Also a pic of mine 2 days before air harvestedScreenshot_20230918_184521_Photos.jpgScreenshot_20230918_184521_Photos.jpgScreenshot_20230918_173739_Google.jpg

Define early, 1 week, 3 weeks? The bud in question doesn’t look early, but if you say it is what is your reasoning?

Someone earlier mentioned the hairs weren’t recessed and that showed it was early, I’m guessing that is someone with minimal experience. There are strains, like Exodus Cheese, where hairs are literally falling off, that does not mean it’s too early though, it’s genetics.

@Oh Canada! my 2nd paragraph micros your post above.

did u you trim the buds wet? Hang dry the nugs if not wet drying?

How many days did it take to dry? What rh in room? Airflow? No light in room while drying?
after drying what storage? did you burp the storage aka de-gas it?

explain the negatives of what you mean by “shitty”, like does it smell like hay? Hash to throat ?

it’s good to use a wood moisture meter when hang drying it and at the 12-21 day check it daily, you want your moisture t 12-15% moisture inside the nugs. The issue with the ‘snap” and crack qc is many pheno’s will have thicker stems, thus fucking u over and false qc. Meaning you’ll have stuff on stem way too long . key in drying is best enviroment with dryness , airflow moving but not hitting buds and darkness. Longer the smoother so don’t let people claim 7 days and ur fly. shoot if you can keep a small amount of stem after ur done drying to hold the nugs while trimming and also to retain a small amount of moisture is another great tool for retaining and keeping ur qc prime. I will leave a small amount of stem on the nugs so I cna hold ‘em while trimming but also it keeps the quality last way longer and u can keep it untrimmed till needed thus when trimmed smells way stronger vs trimming asap and letting it “spoil “

flush is a bro sci excuse for bad quality , Inless you had such high metal content in ur medium and it wasn’t organics and wanted to reuse it , than i could see why. Otherwise there’s zero why that even if u even do flush that doesn’t mean anything. when you see non white ashes it has a lot to do with moisture content, skipping steps in the process of dry/cure and than keeping ur stored unsealed and end results in light, open air, rh not controlled and also trimming/drying it too quick and/or environment instability def can do it .

whatnisnyour theory based on though? 2 weeks early, 4 weeks early? Early doesn’t give the whole story, I’m referring to 1-2 weeks early and there being no significant difference in taste. I find it hard to believe anyone with an internet connection is pulling a plant early enough that the factors you list come into play, but I’ve seen some shit on RIU so it wouldn’t surprise me.

Btw I don’t agree this plant was pulled early.
