...destroy my weed? I've read on worm farming forums that this is a different type of mite. I haven't long been into vermiculture/vermicomposting and I've also read that there is no way to get rid of mites inside a worm bin without killing the worms too. If these mites are indeed a threat to my grow, then I'm getting rid of my worm tower altogether. I live in Colorado and there is no way they will survive outside in the cold. If I keep a worm bin it has to stay inside or either not have one at all.
My worm bedding is dirt free, just coconut coir and newspaper confetti. I don't put anything from outside into my worm bin. Food material in my worm bin is always blendered apples, potatoes, celery, carrots, lettuce from the fridge.
These mites are solid white and the size of a needle point, real small, but they cover food in my worm bin like frosted flakes
