In my experience, no the thinner stuff was more of a PITA, harder to cut, and since they come folded up they can be a bitch to get into the shape you want.
Order of best to worst:
1. Quality Mylar 98%
2. White paint/plastic 90%
3. Aluminum foil 80-88%
4. Space/emergency blanket 60-80%

This is by far the easiest way to " line" a wall or enclosure ( depending on size )

Home Depot sells 2 mil thick roll around a 100 ft for like $80 bucks. VIAGRO
