Mylar

well 1 mill is the worst and is NOT lightproof I got it for 20$ for a 100ft roll. and aluminum foil? whoever said that is retarded and needs to stop growing! aluminum sheets are 2ftx4ft set of 4 for about 150$ id just get diamond mylar or panda film. panda is supposedly more reflective get ur shit as thick as possible though and duct tape sucks u need staple gun absolutely unless you use rescue tape i supose.

what is the significants of having mylar? what effect does it have on your grow vs. not having it at all??

I use panda film and works great as well as protecting the floor or anything I put my buckets on. If it gets damaged its easy and cheap to replace.

make sure you get the thickest mil you can they come in various thicknesses.. I get the 5ml or 6ml.. which is the heaviest the local hydro store carries here.

more light on your plants dude u want as much light coverage as possible and the thick stuff is good for lightproofing

it's fucking awesome, especially if you don't have a ton of lights. i cut up a couple home depot cardboard boxes into various shapes and sizes and used that sticky blue stuff to stick it to the card board. works well and is easy to move around without ripping the mylar

Here's a tip. Shopworkers do not care 2 bits about what you are buying or why you are buying it, if they work it out it might make them smirk, nothing more.
