N.J. Teen Sues Parents for college tuition

What the hell is this country coming to.

A New Jersey honor student is suing her parents for financial support after she says they threw her out of the house when she was 18.

Rachel Canning, a senior at Morris Catholic High School in Denville, filed her lawsuit last week, the Daily Record of Parsippany reported.

She wants a judge to declare that she’s non-emancipated and dependent as a student on her parents for support.
Miss Canning’s lawyer, Tanya N. Helfand, will ask that parents Sean and Elizabeth Canning settle an outstanding $5,306 Morris Catholic tuition bill, pay for their daughter’s current living and transportation expenses, and commit an existing college fund to their daughter, the Daily Record said.


Sean Canning, a retired Lincoln Park police chief, told the newspaper that his daughter voluntarily left home in October because she didn’t want to abide by the rules, such as keeping a curfew and doing household chores.
“We love our child and miss her. This is terrible. It’s killing me and my wife. We have a child we want home. We’re not draconian and now we’re getting hauled into court,” Sean Canning said. “She’s demanding that we pay her bills but she doesn’t want to live at home and she’s saying ‘I don’t want to live under your rules.’”http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/mar/3/nj-teen-sues-parents-college-tuition/

let's be realistic, you would pay her exorbitant sums of money just to watch you jerk off.

Uncle Buck has solved the problem. Maybe I've misjudged him. Every time he "faps" in her honor he can pay her a fapping premium. She should be solvent in no time.

This is the inevitable result of the idiotic mindset of the NEA and its influence in eliminating historical standards of excellence in our schools.

She's a lazy brat who doesn't want to work while attending College like so many others have to, trying to extort what in my opinion is a salary from her parents so she can party and what not.
If she is suggesting in court that her parents were abusive in any way then she why didn't she go through the normal channels for such allegations like the police or social workers etc and seems like the kind of kid who threatens her parents with allegations every time they told her to clean her room.
Her friends dad is paying for her lawyers so maybe she already has a sugar daddy!

what a real p.o.s. like i called her earlier.. isn't she going to feel like quite the ass in a few years time when one day she wakes up and realizes she doesn't know everything, and family is pretty much all we have in this world to trust and fall back on in hard times..

you guys are forgetting the fact that it is her parents who created this monster. This type of attitude didn't develop overnight.

If they had done a better job for the previous 18 years they wouldn't be in this situation.

i kind of agree, to a point.. some times you could be the most loving parents, and still end up with an adolf hitler or jeffry dalhmer imo.. i don't really think that hitler's parents realized when raising him quite what he was going to turn into, that's for sure..

i do agree on the other hand, that usually, the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree..
