You beat me to it lol
I'm not a leftist, I'm a centrist. For the record, so is Bernie, by any objective measure;

I think America has gone way too far to the Right- and the Democratic Party has aided and abetted this ideological migration.
I'm of the opinion that simply voting for Democrats does not achieve the necessary results, so ripping a page from the Conservative playbook and starting a party that's further Left than the Democrats will both give them cover to move Left and indeed the imperative, if they'd actually like to be elected.
This party doesn't even exist yet, but the Democrats have been losing seats with alacrity, proving that whatever strategy they've been using is not resonating with the electorate. Dick Durban's 'new' idea of moving towards the 'center' between a right wing Republican Party and a not much less conservative Democratic Party has been tried and has proven to be an excellent way to lose seats- over 1000 across the country at the State and national level at last count. And yes, those Statehouse seats DO matter. Some of the political geniuses here nonsensically seem to think otherwise.
So when doing the same thing and expecting different results finally grows tiresome, I'm left with trying something different. Having met with others around my city who feel the same way, I can say it's an idea that's rapidly gaining momentum.
The military mindset is part of the fucking problem, I see few solutions there. After all; if their brand of authoritarianism and excessive militarism was the solution, it certainly would have worked by now. We've thrown plenty of money at it, that's for sure!
