I don't know if anyone has said it yet, but what you are seeing on top of the buds is called "crowning". It signifies the end of vertical stretch and usually happens around week 5-8 of flower before swell begins. They are just stacked calyx, and I can't believe how much of you "super experienced growers" thought they were nanners.

You will find they are the first to recede pistils, and form a "spikey crown" at the top of every flower structure.
