20171211_012013.jpg I wanted to start a grow journal using my new 630 cmh in my 4x4. I previously tested out a 400hps + 200w Blurple LED in my 4x4 and saw pretty darn good results. Was averaging 4 ozs per plant. Each plant took up 2x2 section of the tent. Obviously I should be expecting better yield and quality while using the 630 cmh since studies have shown that each 315w CMH bulb is comparable to about 6-700w of hps in regards to yield. But im not counting my chicken before that hatch. On that note, I just wanted to give some quick info as to where im at in this grow and from this point on will continue to post updates of the progress.

Lights : Nanolux 630 cmh. Dual bulb hood. 1 3100k Phillips bulb. 1 4200k Phillips bulb.
Tent: 4x4x8
Soil : Fox Farms Ocean Forest with some added happy frog. Extra worm castings and perlite. 5 gallon pots
Nutes: General organics - Bio thrive bloom. Bio Bud. Bio marine. Botanicare Calmag. Botanicare Sweet raw
Temps are roughly 65-75 degrees. with the RH around 25-40% variance.

Each one of these strains are being grown from clone. Roughly 4-5 week veg time.

Purple Urkle X Girl scout Cookie
Purple Diesel
Blue Dream
Gorilla Glue #4

Keep checking back for more updates!!

So i just also wanted to point out one other thing. These plants vegged there first couple weeks under a 400w MH. My flowering tent became available and i had just purchased the CMH lights so was able to get a couple few weeks worth of time under the 630CMH. I will say this....i think it's a little much in regards to intensity in veg. They definetly slowed down in growth that first week which surprised me untill I thought logically. If each 315w cmh is equal to about 6-700w of MH/HPS , then it's slamming down nearly 1200-1400w worth of MH/HPS. I mean this is all hypothesis of course since I have zero physical data to back it up. But now the plants have became adjusted and the side branches on my blue dream cut are unbelieveably thick. No joke, the side branches are nearly twice as thick as the vertical stalk . Something about these lights that provide that extra ingredient to a healthier plant. Gotta love the CRI rating on these things..... lights were flipped December 4th! Already seeing pistils and early bud sites forming !20171214_014727.jpg 20171214_014725.jpg

Not trying to talk crap man trying to help here but those girls look a little pale. Maybe hungry or cal-mag issue?

Subbed. I have been curious as to what these lights can do from an unbiased source. Good luck Try some epsom salt and some kelp meal or fish fertilizer :)

Yes the purple urkle is definetly showing mag def. I just supplemented 8ml of calmag per gal last night actually so they should perk up again soon. I feel like with these lights, feeding needs to be increased . I feel like the plants are eating more and more. I don't think your talking crap dude im completely open to criticism or helpful info. Think I need to start mixing some Epsom salts or dolomite lime into my soil because i tend to need to use heavy doses of cal mag

Also i am actually using some fish fertilizer. Bio marine is processed squid. Works nicely during flowering. Can i top dress with Epsom salts and still get the mag to the roots?

Do you really think they might be hungry? They wete transplanted about 3 weeks ago into mostly ocean forest and worm castings. Maybe I need to throw some bone meal top dress and Epsom salts?

I mix my Epsom salt into my water I have no experience top dressing with it. If as you stated they we're transplanted into fresh soil recently than it could just be a cal-mag issue so wait and see what your feeding of cal mag does. As for your fish fertilizer remember not to over don't with Nitrogen in flower that can hurt your yields.

Yeah for sure. I just use a small amount of marine since the blooms npk rating is already 2-4-4. The mag deficiency is becoming to get a bit better. The bottom leaves are beginning to stand up and alot of the upper leaves are regaining moisture now.both blue dream and purple urkle x gsc are heavy cal mag eaters. Do you have any experience using dolomite lime for mag ammendments ?

No I use oyster shell instead because it's faster acting. Dolomite lime takes a long time that "activate" if you will. Basically if you drop it in your medium before a grow don't expect to see it work until later in flower or the second round if added to a pot that only does veg or flower

Does the same go for available calmag in potting soil. I saw you said if you just transplanted , it may take awhile to absorb the calmag

Negative I said that because then it shouldn't be your plants being hungry as the medium is new. So points towards a cal.mag issue. But since you gave them cal mag now you wait and see what happens. Changes in soil medium are slower than let's say a hydroponics grow etc

Ok I see what your saying now. Yeah I've read the hydro and dwc grows tend to be more responsive to nute changes and tend to grow faster in general. But I've read the downside is terpenes and taste are than effected when compared to soil or organic based grow

So slowly but surely you can she is starting to soak up the magnesium I supplemented. 12 days into flower and can see tons of bud sites already . Minimal stretching !! Plants habe only stretched about 2-3 inches or so

They are definetly growing fast , but continuing to stay compact. I thing the purple urkle stretched from over watering stress and mag deficiency . My purple diesel looks gorgeous . It has these magenta tinted tops already. The color these cmh lights bring out in the plants is amazing 20171219_215848.jpg 20171220_234658.jpg 20171220_234635.jpg

Officially 3 weeks today from flipping to 12/12. So far id say this 630cmh beats out my 400w hps + 200w led for the stretching phase of flowering by far. No surprise there . Stretching was almost non existent with some training and Lst. Nodes are very well spaced. Today was the first day you could really see the resin glands producing . I'm impressed......and I'm trying to stay as unbiased and open minded as possible. Hard to try and look past reasons that wouldn't justify the money spent on this light lol. But i have to say I've never seem colors or resin glands by this time . Hoping all continues to impress me. I also spent the time with a cheap light meter testing every corner in my 4x4 simce some people claim a 630w won't provide enough light to fill a 4x4 footprint. And I foumd that the intensity will just start to taper right the walls and corners of my 4x4. I tested it 33inches from my hood since thats the distance being kept between hood to canopy. 20171226_171019.jpg 20171226_171148.jpg 20171226_171104.jpg 20171226_171124.jpg

20171228_235307.jpg 20171228_235329.jpg 20171228_235243.jpg Only 24 days from flipping and already seeimg bud sites growing into one another due to such tight node spacing. These cmh truly are incredible. I'm getting faster, healthier , thicker growths. Thicker canopy lined with more bud sites than I usually see. The blue dream in the back left I feel like will be my heaviest yielder. Even the monster cropped GG#4 is packing on some serious bud growth for day 24. It was the smallest plant of the 4. Also just wanted to update that the yellowing I saw on the tops of the plants turned out to be light bleaching. So I know have my lights raised to 40 inches above canopy and they are loving it. Think this will be the sweet spot from now on. I have to say...im my honest opinion....630w may be a bit over kill for a 4x4 tent surprisingly . I think these would work best in a 5x5 footprint. There is soooooo much light spread having the light mounted 3 and a half feet above canopy. And still has as much intensity as will allow without bleaching . Considering getting a new tent for my next go around.

So i decided to take a peak at the trichromes with my jewlers loupe and was jist amazed at these magenta tinted trichromes on my purple diesel. Apparently diesel strains are known for producing purple trichromes . Ecspecially the purple diesel. Seem to have found a really nice pheno that I even made sure to get a few cuts of. 20180102_221410.jpg 20180102_221201.jpg 20180102_221350.jpg 20180102_215201.jpg

Those are some bad ass looking trichs I love purple pheno's of anything. Looking good in there. Make sure the light bleaching isn't the plants a little hungry also from the light having been too close.
