are you using stuff like bat shit , guano? the nutes out there? some can smell like shit, thats why we flush very well before we harvest right? maybe theres an old sub stuffed somewhere around. we are stoners right?
Dude, that is a fascinating idea. I don't know the sex yet and this "rotten garbage" smell only lasted the first few days of flowering. I have noticed that the node spacing on new nodes is way farther apart than the node growth during vegetation and it could well turn out to be male or hermie. Today is day 7 of flowering so I should know something by the end of the week.Just pointing out an observation I made and I was wondering if there was any facts to it. Do males stink more or is it just my imagination.
Nope, most definitely not. This grow is Miracle Grow Potting Soil with a 25% Perlite Amendment. The grow is an experiment for me and it's in a very sterile environment, no debris left around, no dirt, nothing like that. Consider it near laboratory conditions similar to what one would expect when working with mycology or fungi (closet is bleached down, vacuumed, etc, etc)are you using stuff like bat shit , guano? the nutes out there? some can smell like shit, thats why we flush very well before we harvest right? maybe theres an old sub stuffed somewhere around. we are stoners right?
Yup Sonoma is right, the problem is solved but it could lead to an interesting research project if the plant turns out to be male.yo jwiz, hes solved the problem, read the last few posts
Dr, did that plant turn out to be a male?My buddy had a plant, and the smell was so strong it would make my eyes water. It smelled like str8 poop. lol. Like a baby diaper. no joke.
Could well be. It's in Miracle Grow Potting Soil w/Perlite so who knows the nutrient content really? With so many people using MG I would think someone long before me would have experienced similar results?Sounds like the plant in essence was excreting aromatic compounds that were from over-fertilization. Usually the smell from a healthy plant is pungent, not putrid. Just like when humans eat too much food, or junkfood for that matter, the result is an extra-funky stink than normal. Nice thread.
Thanks! Yea I really can't explain it. The smell was undeniably like rotting food mixed with bud but it only lasted a brief period (a few days I seem to remember)About 3 of my bagseed plants smell kinda like dirty, sweaty gym socks. But they are sticky as fuck, and I flush every 2 weeks. Dont know wats up w/that awful smell in mine. Glad yer grow was so successful!
