natural ferts

Can someone please give me an their honest opinion on natural nutrients?

I am growing outside using pots. So far i am using supersoil potting soil mixed with perilite. I am in southern cali. my plants are 3 weeks old and some of them have really yellow bottom leaves. I think i need to slowly introduce some nutrients?? right??

I have read all over this site and so far have heard everything from... banana peels, egg shells, molasis, brown sugar, sea shells, burnt apple ashes??, maple syrup, tea, blah blah blah!!! what do i use?? and how do i use it?? mix it in with the soil, put on top of the soil, mix in with water? I am so unclear about this. I can't really afford to buy anything right now, or do i need to??

yes, i have also read the faq section but it seems to me most of that caters to indoor growing

thanks for any info!

the bottom leaves are supposed to yellow and fall off, nothing to worry about there. as far as nutrients go, its really hard to over fert with organics. i had a flowering batch on a heavy nutrient regimen when a seedling popped up in the same bed. it got all the heavy nutes, and grew up just fine! so let it be for a little while, just water, and it should be fine.

thanks for the reply!

Not the bottom round leaves... i know those are suppose to fall off. I'm talking about the real plant leaves that are on top of those.

so what organical nutes does everyone use here? for veg I use the fish emulsion stuff stinks really bad but works great! when I first introduced it to my seedlings after 3.5 weeks they shot up to twice their size in one day!
for bloom I cut off the fish juice and water for a couple weeks w/o nutes. then introduce molasses. seems to help fillout the colas really well. if there's anything else I could or should add in between these two nutes I'd like to know. I've always been taught to keep em off nutes in their transitional period from veg to bloom.

you could try making oak leave tea, get a bunch of oak leaves, put them into a bucket then poor water in, leave it outside (in your grow area) for a week then use like a regular liquid fert. what im doing is when I go to get my grow sight ready im making my own soil out of natural soil(the stuff I dig up for holes) the some compost soil, then add some banana peels and crushed egg shells (lunch:mrgreen:) oh I almost forgot some decent sized fish at the bottom of the hole:mrgreen: When the plants are growing I'm also going to try and use natural ferts. (like the oak tea) and/or any organic ferts. I can get my hands on:mrgreen: right now I have some that has some fish emulsion (stinks:spew:) but works great, used it on my herbs and they are doing awsome, grew some bean plants in it they were huge. sorry for making you guys read all this :eyesmoke:

i just use botanicare pure blend grow and bloom.i have a bunch of other stuff from previous grows but the pure blend line does damn good, pretty cheap (25.00/ gal.) and a touch of cal-mag once a month. thats about it. finished product tastes great with no flush at all.pretty simple and great results...

Here is my approach - I start by top dressing with 50/50 10-3-1 bat guano and 6-9-0 bone meal. The bat guano is 50% immediate release and 50% slow release (all guano is like this) and the bone meal is 100% slow release (all bone meals are like this). I water with a bat guano tea and cal mag.

When i switch to 12/12 I top feed with 1-11-0 bone meal and 1-10-0 bat guano and water with a bat guano kelp meal (1-0-2) tea.

Thought is to pump Nitrogen durring veg with a little phosphorous, then slowly up the P (slow release bone meal) while maintaining some N for the first couple weeks of flower and then pumping the potassium at the end.
