Nature's TOP???

Soo just noticed something odd about a budsite on one of my mains. Instead of more fan leaves, stem, and eventually a top flower continuing to grow from the center, this branch decided to end on a set of leaves and start the new growth on either side, like I had TOP'd?!

Ever see a center/main budsite naturally stop growth with set fan leaves and the new growth protrude from either side, like a TOP? Only my second grow sooo this may be normal.

Come now! Lol surely someone has seen this. Is this just an imperfection? I'm kind of tickled to have another cola, but wouldn't mind learning the "why" lol

I've had that happen before a few times and I'm not quite sure why that happens. However, the more colas you have, the more bud you will develop. The thing I'd to try and keep your colas at the same height. Typically, I try and use stress training to keep the colas around the same height which will also allow more light to the bud sights

Probably just damage to a fresh flowering site causing it to die. Could of touched it at the wrong time, squeezed it a little to hard, hurt it training, ect. Basicly u did top that branch on accident without knowing

I’m growing an auto currently and one of the branches cola did the same. I think it’s just a mutation…does look cool tho!
By goly if we could figure out what does trigger it, be mighty less stressful way to top haha. Save probably weeks in grow time.

Well they're in week 2 flower. Shouldn't I let the budsights get some heighth?

I suppose that's very true. And I have moved these budsites(pic above) at least 5x each, some more. It was probably 3x a week where a site grew 50% more than it's neighboring sites, or the fan leaves would bulk up and looked too closterphobic. -

So having a curious thought. If I were to top the fan leaves....would it produce two shoots of fan leaves??? Or two more budsites??? I may top it just in the name of science bongsmilie
