Need a humidifier?

Hey guys,

I definitely need a humidifier. My question is, is it more efficient inside or outside of the tent? Currently, I only have 1 5x5 setup. Humidity is pretty low with the lights on, around 50-55%. With the lights off its around 60-65%. I am also planning on putting 2-3 more tents into this room. Would it be better to control the ambient humidity outside of the tent, so that it is just cycled in through the intake? or should each tent have its own humidifier? I've just been hanging two wet towels in the tent for the time being which is helping keep humidity over 60% with the lights on, I just swap them out every time I turn the lights on. I was looking at an Inkbird Humidity Controller, just trying to figure out what I want to hook up to that, open to all suggestions.

Thanks!

I know that they're in line with what I'd want for flowering, but I am still in veg. Don't I want ~65%? What's nuts is it's super humid around here right now, but I've managed to seal the room up so well that I'm not noticing any effect. I'll have to bring my dehu up when it comes time to flower. I don't know how I'd get it down further other than increasing fan speed and that only seems to do so much.

I guess I'll give it some time. I am adding another light into the tent tonight, additional support bars should be here today. I'll keep a close eye on the readings and check back if I notice anything drastic. Appreciate the input gentlemen.

If the plants outside haven't ceased to live the indoor plants will be fine with your local humidity. Your reading too much into things.

I run a large room and keep my flower humidity around 42% with the veg area at 52%
any higher and I would be fighting pest and mold issues

I feel like your humidity control should be in the grow space, and for a 5 x 5 space just one of those cheap controllers like the Inkbird Humidity Controller you mentioned hooked to a small cool mist humidifier is perfect for that space. Put it in the corner that is furthest away from your intake, then on the other corner opposite of where you have placed the humidifier have a circulation fan up high above your canopy, so when the mist comes out of the humidifier and rises up, that fan will move that humidified air all around the grow space. And even with those cheap humidifiers you can drill a hole in the top of the tank and run that line to a 10 gallon reservoir so you only need to refill the reservoir every once in a while. Yeah, it sure beats refilling the small humidifier tank every day! And as for a dehumidifier, when I run small tents I just have it outside the tent where it sits in a exchange box and gets mixed with the negative pressured air going into the exchange box that is being sucked into the tent by the tents exhaust fan that is hooked to the carbon filter. That way I am only dehumidify the grow space, and i have a controller hooked to the dehumidifier so it only runs when the grow space needs dehumidifying! In fact my humidity controller also controls the dehumidifying too, its a dual relay controller!
