need advice in germinating seeds

So i got some seed raising soil and planted them staight in the dirt and sat them under my 1000 what light. i no they dont need light to sprout, i only put them under the light to keep them warm. Will that effect the growth or do u think i might of stund the seeds from to many different temp. cheers

do you live on the south pole??? why the hell is it so cold? anyways the paper towel method is by far the best IMO it works for me everytime.i soak themn 24 hours in a shotglass and then put in towel and get moist(not soaked!) and put in a dark place as light kills roots.you should of left them in the soil instead of digging them up and touching them because the oil on human skin is bad for roots also.if they still grow then there should be no long term effects.

thats what my temp reads, were under celcious not farienheit. the temperature of my room is the same temp as it gets up in the hottest part of queansland.

Here is a trick that I use to get a 100% germination with most strains. I plant seeds in humidity dome, usually keeping the humidity at a 100% until germination. This is needed for the plant to absorb water and swell to burst the shell of the seed. Some seeds need help with this. This can be done by using a bit of sand paper in a box and placing the seeds and giving it a few shakes.

Occasionally lift the cover to get some fresh air in. Do not allow the humidity to dry completely out nore keep it overly damp. If planting in soil do not place it deeper than the width of the seed, this is the rule of all seeds. The smaller it is the less soil covering is needed in the wild to germinate.

Slowly reducing the humidity by opening the holes in the dome as the first few leaves appear. When the plant produces more leaves. Hope this helps.

I feel most new growers poke around to much. Do NOT Distrub the Seeds after you plant them.


honestly i find a party cup size container fill it 3/4 with dirt.

plant the seeds 1 seed length into the dirt so i guess 1/4 inch.

water until the cup is completely soaked.

wrap some plastic wrap around it and put rubber band around the wrap making the plastic a tighter seal.

There will be enough water in there to last until the seeds sprout. So just put it in a warm sunny place and don't touch it.

2-7 days

i have 99% germination success

I think what you lack is patience......seeds are very delicate once they germinate any stress can kill them very fast.......digging them up will certainly kill it,over watering will kill it...........cannabis seeds need wet,warm,humid conditions to germinate......20% humidity is too low........use whatever method you are most comfortable with and keep ideal conditions and you will have more success........I like to soak seeds for 24 hours in a cup of water,then move to a moist sock then place in a tray and humidity dome....most seeds germinate withing 24-48 hours.........

guess from the degress c not f that your in uk like me, what i did was leave the seed in water for a couple of hours, get a sheet of kitchen roll, fold it in half, wet it till it cant hold any more water, hold it from a corner for around a minute so plenty of the water can run off yet leaving a good amount on it, place this on a plate put the seeds on it, fold it in half covering the seeds, then put another plate upside down on top of it. I then put these plates on top of my freeview box (cable box sattelite box etc) making sure its not too hot, i found left on standby was the best temp warm but not hot. the plates kept the majority of moisture in (check daily wether to add a tad more water or not) the seed had sprouted within 2 days but i put it back untill the sprout was around a cm long (another 2 days) then planted that around a cm deep (so it was only just coverd by soil) and that worked just fine for me i didnt have any problem with touching the sprout because i didnt need to, the kitchen roll was big enough for me to just place it above where i wanted to plant it

lol nah it was the degrees c not degrees f, noticed it all seems to be in f on here but here in the uk we mainly work on c, my thermometer dfont even have f on it! lol but looking back notice a ref. to queensland so guessing not in uk afta all lol

well 75f = 25c ... i only know that because of my lab and engineering problems . they consider that room temperature

1 of my seeds has sprouted, should i put it straight under lights or would it be right till more sprout.

Put it under the light.......you don't want it to stretch too much in look for light......but be careful not to put your lights too close especially hid light..
