I began 12/12 cycle on my plants 2 weeks ago, with a 9pm to 9am schedule. woke up at 9:20 this morning and lights were still on. I turned them off immediatly, dont know if timer failed or i just didnt set it right. This is the first time this has happened during grow. Any advice on what i should do? continue 9pm to 9 am or move to 9:20 to 9:20:peace:

i think you need to figuer out your timer issue first... are you sure that you ever had them in 12/12?

I once set my timer for 12/12, but i accidentally moved the switch so the timer wasn't engaged. after about 14 days of no signs of flower, i checked on them and teh light was on.. as it had been on 24/0 for 2 weeks.... that sucked.

also, those timers are hard to be super accurate with. mine are supposed to be on from 2 to 2, but it's actually about 2:11 to 2:11 give or take.

if it was just an extra 20 min. for 1 day... youve nothing to worry about.

Thanx fiender, ya i was well into flowering had alredy removed two males and have 1 female for sure and 2 not sre yet. found timer in my garage. Should have bought new one from begginning. One concern I have is somtimes 400w hps does not light, i have to unscrew and shake in order for it to light, all lighting is brand new and used for 2 weeks. Any thoughts?

I once had a cheap ($5) Intermatic timer that would sometimes hang up on the trips, and I've heard tat those things aren't made for HID lights and the arc that hapens when the contacts close can cause them to fail over time... might be time for a better timer.

As for the 400 not lighting... that's not good, you shouldn't have to unscrew/shake anything! If you have it hanging vertically, that could be a problem as most lamps are meant to be mounted horizontally.

it could also be a problem with he socket if the contacts arent quite touching... with the light off you could bend the center contact out a little to make sure it's getting good contact.

If none of that sounds like anything, then i would get a new 400w bulb.
