Need Advice On Maturity of Plant and if it's Ready To Harvest!

As the title says, I have a plant (my first flowering girl!), and I am a little unsure about when to harvest it or start flushing.

She's in coco. I didn't really keep great track of when I switched the lights, so I *think* she's been under 12-12 lights for about 35-40 days as of today.

You can see from the pics that last Friday the pistils were sticking out way more and much whiter. This Friday, a week later, there aren't nearly as many pistils visible as many of them seem to have withdrawn towards the buds. And the ones that are sticking out still are about 50% brown.

The trichromes seem to be almost all milky with a few clear, and maybe a very rare amber. I've been waiting for a significant percentage of amber before I started my flush, but then I read an article that said you could actually harvest as soon as you have 50% brown pistils.

What do you guys think? I should probably start flushing at least.

Wow really, that long? Did you notice that the pictures are a week apart in time and were supposed to show different stages?

The tricromes look almost all milky to me, like I said, which I thought meant I could start flushing soon...? Am I totally off here?

I'm just saying it looks young yet & most plants take 9 or 10 weeks to flower & you count from when it shows flowers not the flip...
So yea be patient you gotta while

Ok. I figured that I was jumping the gun, which is why I wanted some better advice before I started doing anything drastic! Haha.

it does look a bit overfed. which will adversely affect your buds
not bad for a new grower i suppose

its not a necessity to flush before harvest.. but the extra chlorophyll and wax (sheen on leaves) can make for a poor smoke as it makes the cure take much longer.

get it straightened out and it will also be less leafy.

strain? evironment? regimen?

and agreed you have a while left

Strain is Chemo. (Flowering time is 53 days)
Enviroment... Its in a grow tent. Its got plenty of room. I have it under 2 LED flood lights that are the equivalent of a 250W bulb.
Its growing in Coco Coir.

I've been watering every other day with General Hydroponics Flora series, with a PPM of less than 1000. I adjust to make sure at least 20-30% of the PPM is from CalMag to avoid deficiency issues.

Does this change anything knowing all this?

Yeah really dark green and the plant looks unhappy, it should pray towards the light source when its getting the proper nutrients and water regiment, you might want to add a watering instead of doing nutes every time.

So its possible its being over fed even if theres no tip burn?

I think I will add in a straight watering instead of nutes every time, like you said. Thank you for the advice. Its my first grow and I am still learning, so any help you guys provide is super appreciated!

Also, I have not flushed in a long time, so I should probably do that.

Tip burn usually means total over fert, like you went ham, you are borderline , way too much nitrogen, I grow organic but I used to use bottled nutrients , you should be lime green at that point, you are much too dark, however some strains are darker than others, your high leaf ridges also show high nutrient levels. I would do like you said, water, nutes , water, nutes as a schedule until you see a little fading.

And I'm actually kinda glad to hear that I have another 4-6 weeks or so. That's more time for the buds to grow! :D

So when you say "straighten it out"....what do you mean exactly? I've thought about using some string to pull the branches down so they have more light. But there is some kinda scary splitting going on at the trunk of the plant. It seems like if I push it too far it might just rip off all together with the way it's growing. So I've just taken the safe route and let it grow on its own.

The nugs are just starting to grow, hense the thick white pistols. Theres a little drooping that looks like you let them dry out a little too much, remember coco is really hard to over water. Other then that different strains will take longer to get into and out of that point but id say another month and check the trichombes.

and no no no, i meant nutes. you should have plenty of time to get the plant happy and yes get a good bit more bud

a few things to add. you need more light. if yiu can lower those or add a couple.. make sure your heat doesnt get to high though, cooler the better really especially when talking concentrates. you know 70s

cut your feed in half if you want to water every day. i do as well, mainly beacuse my grows are automated but even before.. i would water without nutes the next time she needs it.
also giving her more light will help burn off some excess in tje leaves.

and you said 53 days.. thats fast, ive only ever grown one strain that accomplished that, but i dont grow too many indica.. anyway, that could be from sign of flower and the speed of the fastest pheno of test batches etc.
im just saying..and yiir environment

and raise your humidity some if you can

What makes you say I need additional light? I have the equivalent of a 250 watt HID bulb, and I was under the impression that was more than enough for a single plant! (This plant is covering appx 1 sq ft area, maybe. )

I would like to add more lights, but cost is more of an issue atm then anything like space or heat. Does dark green leaves basically mean that the bottleneck in this whole setup right now is the amount of light?

It depends on what you want to end up with. On whole, clear trichomes are more racy, and amber are more sedative, with cloudy in between. I usually harvest when most are cloudy, with a few clear and a few amber, because I typically don't need help falling asleep.

It can be highly strain dependent as to how many weeks it takes, which is why I use trichome color as opposed to brown pistils.
