Need advise!! wont have time to fully cure!

Hey!

So unfortunately my grow schedule didn't work out as planned and to make a long story short i am now only going to have a few days after cutting my plant down before i have to leave for about 3 weeks. :wall:

So i was wondering what my best option would be for drying/curing?
Here are somethings i have thought of.
I have heard of hang drying for a couple of weeks if conditions are right with some leaves left on to keep some moisture in longer. but im still skeptical and afraid of over drying.
I also thought of hang drying as long as possible before i leave and then jarring them with the lids loose to let out moisture.
or
could jarring them and putting them in the fridge preserve them and keep them from molding?

Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Tough situation, you could cut early and dry then jar with a couple humidipaks or don't cut and just leave them in the pots and hope they don't over dry.

You're going to want to cut it as late as possible and hang it in a semi-enclosed area preferably cool, perhaps your garage. If it is inside you will want to have some slight air movement and if it does dry too much then put it into a container with a/some flour tortillas and allow them to slowly rehydrate some, they will be fine. If you put them into a jar, even with the lid unscrewed, you run a huge risk of mold which will take everything in the jar. Good luck, Larry :weed:

wouldn't cutting them and putting them in the freezer work? when you get back just take them out and dry properly?

I thought of that to but from what i read its okay to freeze after they cured not before. Supposedly it has something to do with the moisture inside the buds and stems. Freezing it causes some kind of cells to rupture damaging the bud and quality.

I vote you turn it to wax using fresh frozen flowers.

Not being able to open the jar's for three weeks will ruin the flowers. Leaving them out in the air for three weeks will dry them to a crisp and be very harsh to smoke.

Wax is your only viable option.

I was in a similar situation; 2 week vacation. I just let them grow during that time. I did have my lady water my ladies once in the second week though. If they're going to die anyways that's an option... I did end up with a few male flowers and 10 seeds; but... fuck it, bud was on point and retained its essential oils - which won't be likely to occur in a 3 week dry. GL man interesting spot you're in.

Put it in brown paper bags and it should dry evenly. You should probably leave some airholes.

Really, it won't be "ruined". I bet you'll come back and the weed will be amazing.

Are you saying to just leave it all on the plant till i get back?
Yep, Let it die in the pot fan leaves and all. Just an idea for extending the dry time. Water the plants before you leave or even some type of auto water device might get you an extra week or more of dry time.

Im running hydro though i could fill it to the top but it would only be able to run for maybe 2 weeks max. its drinking 5gal a week

That might work then, how long do you normally dry for? My dry time is super short (low humidity) with normal cut, trim and hang, only like 4-5 days. Last grow I cut but didn't trim and just hung a whole plant upright. I got an extra 4 days of drying. I'm guessing I could have extended it even more if I just left it in the pot without cutting. With your system you maybe able to keep your plants growing for 1-2 weeks plus your normal dry time and the few extra days by not trimming. Just an idea.

Normally depending on conditions i hang dry for about 4 days. then i jar the buds and purge the jars everyday for for about 2 weeks.

Chop the plant from the base of the stem and hang it in your flower room. Don't cut any leave off of it. It should take 2-3 weeks for it to be properly dried then when you get back cut and throw into jars. Also lower the temp in the drying room so the air holds less moisture. Works for me but I grow very big trees so they take a lot of time to dry. But when I do it this way te bud comes out smelling dank right off the plant before I even put into jars

I'd rather have a plant that's "overdried" than a plant that's overripe.

Just keep it simple and let the buds dry for 3 weeks if you have to.

Dry it as much as you can then put it in jars with the 62% humidity packs... As much as i dislike these packs, I really think its your only choice.

Where do you get those at?

Right now i am thinking im going to cut and hang the entire plant. I was looking at hanging it in my one room that stays about 53 degrees and around 46% humidity with nothing in it. Being it stays cool in that room im thinking it should take weeks to dry and shouldn't mold.

I second the paper bag and have done it. So a quick dry hanging, put in paper sack n roll top closed. Put in a cool spot. Not cold. They will dry slow n even
