Check out the Micro grows. I got 3oz out of 5 small lst'd plants under just cfls. Buds where nice and tight, not fluffy either. Plus I noticed that if your plants do hit the light and get burnt they arent going to turn to dust. yeah they get hot but not as hot as MH or HPS. Touch a cfl then touch a MH or HPS and check your skin. And yes.... need some good perlite or vermiculite mixed soil for sure for better water and air flow to the roots.

I just grabbed the soil from a tomato patch that had compost in, I havn't done anything to the soil
you might wanna add perlite because it doesnt have any in it and as you keep watering it eventually its gonna compact down so hard and suffocate your roots

I'm not to sure I think I may have some perlite here somewhere its a slightly different colour and not bright white. Its not got a label on, its just in a bag. If I post a pic tomorrow hopefully someone might be able to tell me if its perlite.

i dont use cfls so i got no clue. they say 100 actual watts per plant.. but cfls are basically shit i hear so you need more.

Ahh right well it's all I can do atm just have to hope its enough for now. If 18w cfl's are equivalent to 90w, then my 2 lights are 180w? is that enough for 1 plant?

that might be vermiculite.... kinda looks like perlite but more grey/rocky looking. Anyways... For veg of 1 plant you wont need alot of cfls but your 2 18w will be fine while its still seedling. youll need those other 2 cfls for sure when it gets right into veg mode. Pick up atleast 3 Y socket adapters so your not having to deal with abunch of lamps or whatever. Keep the lights close to the plant... about 2-3 inches away from canopy(plant tops).

make sure that you use a 3:1 ratio for veg. so make sure you use 3-6500k to 1-2700k cfl. and reverse that for flowering.

Thank you very much, I have found a 150w security light, Do you know if I could connect it to a 13a 3 pin plug? and would this be enough light to grow her?

What type of light is it? You cannot use Halogen or flood lights (or any type of incandescent for that matter).
How about a pic?
