Need help choosing medium for Water Culture System

I am going to be building a water culture system, this seems to be the simplest one to build in my research. this is my first time attemping this and im not sure what to choose for a medium. The article i read suggested i use "perlite" or a "perlite/vermiculite" mix. Now, does this mean that along with the "perlite" or "perlite/vermiculite" mix i have to add soil with it??, and if this is not the best choice for a medium, what is??

The perlite/vermiculite is called a "Hempy Bucket" (Google It) method. No soil needed. If you are using this method your plant would be in that mix. If you are going hydro/DWC/Bubbleponics I would suggest Rapid Rooters and Hydroton.

I second SIV3L. I use dwc with rapid rooters and Grow Rock and have never had any problems.

In regardes to the rapid rooters. is that what your starting your plants in right after germinating, or are you getting clones?
