Need help designing new grow room

Hello all,
I am in the middle of my first grow, using cfl's in my closet. You can check out my grow here>>>> https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-fluorescent-lighting/713446-first-indoor-grow-closet-cfl.html

Anyway, I want to upgrade to HID lighting and was wanting to continue growing in my closet. Its 60" by 56" and about 8 feet high. I was thinking probably a 600 watt HID system, looking at the Ipower air cooled hood on amazon>>> http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002TNDCVK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AXC6VLRHTOFD2

Also going to get the 400 cfm inline fan and carbon scrubber and duct into the ceiling of my closet straight into the attic.

I want to grow anywhere from 3-6 plants and get about 6-8 ounces every 3-4 months (my wife and I smoke A LOT). Does this seem reasonable?

Should I get a tent to go in the closet or just grow in the closet??

Any comments or suggestions welcome. I have a budget of about $500 so if you have other suggestions for lighting, ventilation, setup let me hear it!!

I think you could stretch that 500$ a lot further by not buying a tent. If you want, you can line your closet in mylar, or a material I prefer called Xtreme Blackout Canvas. Flat white paint works well too. Your lighting and fan setup all sound very reasonable for your space and I think your production expectations are in line as well. The light package you picked is fine, I have used similar inexpensive digital ballast with success although not iPower specifically. I didn't check your link all the way, but you should find a vendor that gives a warranty(usually 2-5 years) and is located in the US. Also realize that the light bulbs that come with these package deals are absolute garbage. Upgrade to a Hortilux with the money you save from not buying the tent.

Make sure to also add an osculating fan to keep the air mixed up. Your biggest decision will come down to the tent option, because it seems like it'd be nice and tidy. Growing doesn't really work out that way and the tents can become burdensome for the very reasons you thought they would be a benefit. Many use tents with a lot of success, though! I just think it's better to secure the closet and seal it as best as humanely possible to keep negative pressure from your inline fan. Don't line the walls with tin foil or any crap like that, flat white paint is cheap and easy.

A major limiting factor from a production standpoint will be your inability to have plants vegging while others are flowering. If you can find a space to setup a cheap t5 veg area it would really increase your harvest rate.

Southerner, thanks for the input, I already have the closet lined with Mylar for my cfl growand have a few fans in the room. I have just been leaving the door open to help with the tents.

So if I decide to just grow in the closet would covering the door with panda film or the blackout film you mentioned and cut a hole in it for intake? Or should I close the door an cut a hole in the door for intake? I own my house so it no big deal if I have to cut holes in the door.

Here are some pics of my closet, not sure why they are sideways.

another question, s it dangerous in any way to vent into my attic? And will a 400 cfm be sufficent? Thanks for all the help and check out my current cfl grow if you have time!
