Need help with cloning...

Hey All.

I was wondering if there would be any way to clone a flowering plant. Would there be any way to revert some small cuttuings back into veg?

Yes, you can clone a flowering plant. You will need to root it and convert it back into the veg state by with at least 18 hours of light and using your veg nutrients.

I just took 4 clones today from a plant that is 5 weeks into flower and too clones a couple of weeks ago from plants 4 weeks into flowering. Those 8 clones have all rooted.

I use a Daisy Cloner with root stimulator and ph'd water and an air stone in the res.

cut and put the stem in a shooter glass of water until it roots... put it in soil after and put over 16 hrs of light / days

I tried to clone for the first time witha plant that was 2 weeks into flower. I took 4 cuttings and placed them in shot glasses and they never rooted. I am not doubting it can be done, but I am a newb at cloning and it didn't work for me. Try it, whats the worst that can happen.

oh your such a douche nozzle lmao

you have to use rooting hormone and give the roots a dark place to grow.

If you look on you tube fore cloning plants or even do a google video search i am sure you will find a tutorial

easy


peat pellet inside a 2L bottle cut in half,cover with saran wrap,MIST every 2 days, and your done

i use rootech cloning gel, i get roots now in 10 days through the plug

Hey thanks for the info. Now I have yet another question... I just built a very small 12 plant cloner (2" pots) and was wondering how to go about irrigating the small pots. Here were my ideas:

1) Put three long air stones under where each of the rows will be seated, and hope the bursting bubbles hit the bottom of the pots evenly.
2) make a complex drip manifold on the small surface of the cover (including a small pump and x amount of irrigation tubing.)
3) Just let the stems hang partly in the water...

Any direction would be greatly appreciated on this. Oh Yeah, do I have to create some sort of humidity dome for this - or can decent clones be made without the dome?

Both 1) and 3) with root stimulator added to your res and/or cloning gel or root powder. No need to top water clones since you are tying to get their roots to form in the water.

These are the clones I took from my girls in flower. The brown roots are stained from the GH FloraMicro nutrient and eventually goes away. I clone in the Daisy Cloner until roots form in 3 to 10 days and then into the 12 site 2-inch net pot bubbler.

Knally, that rules. Thanks for the advice. I just built one a little smaller (same color and size) but wasnt sure about what kind of plumbing it needed. I was going for "simple" on this whole concept. Since I am growing DWC I understand those principals and see how it will work. Thanks again.

I ordered the 2-inch net pot neoprene inserts that are used in the EZ Cloner. The inserts come in other sizes also to fit your net pots and to keep light out of your res. No need for hydroton clay or other medium to hold the plant. Most of the hydro shops carry them and they are pretty cheap compared to hydroton clay pellets.

yes it will root. i clone once 6 weeks in flower. i took cuttings that had very little buds but it took a while to root, and to vert back. it took about a month 1/2 before i seen any new growth. if you clone in veg when she has 4 to 6 limbs that you can cut from you will be better off. your success rate will be higher and your plant rotation will be a lot batter. good luck

OK... I followed some of your advice and tried the simplest method of cloning I knew of (pH'd water and 1/10th nutes and look what happened).. I popped them in about 10 days ago, under 24 hours of one 23 watt cfl.. No root compunds, just water and barely nuted)

They came from this plant (an AK-48) which was six weeks into heavy flowering - (note the dead flying bugs in the water... those were the secret ingredient!:bigjoint:)

I'm a total newbie, haven't sprouted my first seed yet. But, according the the growers bible, it states that its best to clone from vegging plants. The reasoning was that if you cut a flowering plant, the plant will revert some of its energy into repairing the area that was cut instead of putting 100% of the energy into the flowering. Makes sense but I'm not sure just how much energy it converts to healing the cut. Just thought I'd toss it out there!

Still, I am going forward with these 2 clones and will see what the next 3 months brings. They look very healthy and the cuts look pretty well healed up to me. We'll just have to wait and see I guess...

..Thats how I feel everytime I take a hit of this stuff... Except I fall back onto the couch:eyesmoke:.
