Ok so after a week of useless "help" they finally decided to send someone out on monday to check my internet. Anyways they say if they come out and find nothing wrong on their part then they will charge me 29.95. What should i look for to see if the guy even checks or does anything? i dont wanna pay them.

They told me to do a speed test and it came back with 15ms. In global agenda my ping is 350 at best lol.

idk what the problem is and accordding to them there is none.

I used to download things at speeds from 1 MP/s to 3 Mp/s. I didnt downgrade or anything. for the past 2 weeks my internet has been getting only about 150 kb/s. This is awful, i lag horribly in starcraft 2.

I have powercycled a million times and reset my modem. They reset my modem from their end too. Then they make me to a speed test owned by comcast and of course it shows perfect speeds. I know the problem isnt on my end. Im plugged directly into the modem. my computer is not out dated at all. 3.4 GHZ quad core, HD 5870, 4 Gb of RAM 1600mhz.

Ya man, it could be soooooo many things. Just gotta do process of elimination. Alls the dude is going to do is test their modem, make sure the wires are connected and not frayed and check the signal to the cable box ... prolly gonna cost ya 30 bucks cuz those are usually the last thing it could be. It sounds like its your computer or router. Replace the router jsut to see, if thats not it, take the router back. If you have a network card inside the computer, replace that, take it back if thats not the case etc etc. Replace all yer wires if yer not doing wireless. But if you are dong wireless it could be a whole new set of issues ... kinda get where im going with all this?

when I had bullshit verizon dsl mine got fucked up and they had me type in some shit like 192.168 xxxx in the internet then log in to something and reset the modem.Thats probably what you gotta do.

Nah he said they reset it on their end, that's how they do that, by typing in the IP address of the modem and resetting it.

I just realized you said yer plugged directly to the modem, so i'm a dumbass lol. What to do next then, is try a different LAN cord and then if you don't have an anti-virus, get one. AVG is a good free anti-virus, it gets yer shit running decent.

I had to do that like once every 3 months though. It was a pain in the ass because I would always for get the username and password when it was like admin and admin lol.

I built my computer and know my way around it a bit. I have tried every option of why it could be slowed down. I have done everything with my hardware and software. Theres nothing left but one of their wires or something is messed up. I dont know how cable works.

ya, could be just a bad day/week on comcasts end. I know that when i first got comcast here, there was a big problem with the service cutting out off and on through out the day. Sucked cuz i was playing warcraft at the time and was disconnected like every hour or so. happened for about 2 weeks. wasnt my fault at all but it got fixed and it only seemed to be my apartment complex, neighbor had same issue. Alls i'm saying is there are soooo many things to check, replace, reboot etc etc, that it's really hard to pinpoint what it could be on a forum without having access to your computer
