Need help with flowering spectrum switch

Are they autos or photos?

ETA: I'm no expert, just parroting info I have read. If they are autos, you can switch any time, because they will flower when they are ready. Some advice I got when I was growing autos under CFL was to just go 2700k from the start.

If photos, switch to 2700k when you change the light cycle.

So from my studies when you plants are 2\3 the size you want them (total height) switch to 12/12 lighting and to 2700k

That's interesting. Never heard of anyone doing it like that before. Does anyone flower using 18/6? Is it even possible?

some autos will flower under 20/4 some are strictly by age.. you can use whatever spectrum you want no matter the photoperiod. I personally veg and flower under hps, bulb life is twice as long and throws more light, I've never noticed increased stretch and yes I've vegged and flowered using all mh as well as hps.

Wish I had the funds to get an hps but using 24 cfl bulbs which cost me about 30$ to setup versus the 80$+ I need for a hps but after my first will most likely switch to hps

@WDIK yea cfls and have you harvested under this setup an if so how was the crop
Yes, just finished drying one plant, and have another that will be chopped in 1-2 weeks. Yield wasn't bad for a 1st grow from a < 12" auto plant. 1.5 oz dry. Would have been better with better lights. I'm a hobbyist and a light smoker. When the second plant is jarred I may have enough to last me a year. :)

How many plants are you running?

I also have a small cfl cab, I feel the bud quality is better if not as dense.. I run 750 watts in a 20x26" space. 24,23 watt cfls overhead and some 42's down low. pulls a lb when full, heavy sativas,8- 12 ish plants

So how bad is it to hang lights below the canopy I was thinking I might drop a couple lights below canopy cause I know cfls dont have great penetration but isn't it bad for the bottom of the canopy leaves/stomata

as long as nothing gets too hot, the immediate area around the bulb will explode with growth, and yield nice dense nugs, the leaves will turn and position themselves to find the light. if side light is strongest that's where it will face, it's not bad for the plant from my experiences and I see no reason why it would be..they don't have great penetration, the 42's are good for like a 6" spread then it's dwindling.
