Need Help with lighting please

Hi there I have been having massive trouble trying to cut through all the BS and sales patter when trying to buy some new LED grow lights. I am growing 2 of DP Think Different in 2x 20l DWC. My grow space is 1.2m X 1.2m X 2m and need an LED light that will be good enough for me to get a decent yeild off these 2 plants. I have always used HPS in the past but this is no longer an option as they put out far to much heat. I have 400 pounds to spend which is about $650 and want something that will provide me with a decent yeild. At the moment is looking like a DIY grow light maybe the only way to go to get results but have no Idea where to start. Any input on either Ready made or DIY LED lighting will be greatly appreciated. I am ready to go with these seeds and I will be doing a grow journal as soon as I have sorted my lighting problem Thanks ....

If the only reason you are going LED is because of temp, I would seriously consider a VHO t5 fixture. I have used both because of temperature problems, and the VHO, not the HO, kicks the shit out of LED, at a quarter of the cost. I still use both, but there is really no comparison in a low temp fixture. LED is good, but VHO is better in my opinion.

Amazon under Garden lights, Sunblaze 8 lamp VHO t5 fixture, about $300. I just finished a grow side by side, the VHO was much better. The amount of lumens thrown by the VHO is the killer. If I had to do it again, instead of the LED I would definitely go VHO.Peace

Can u get tubes for flowering or do you use the same tubes all the way through ? how well will plants yeild under them ? thanks for information am really considering these

buy 1 that contains both red and blue spectrum some go for 3 red to 1 blue for more growth in veg and some opt for a ratio of 2:2 which promote better flowering ...but you can always buy extra bulb of each colour and swap them out.......

doesnt look like i can get the vho in the uk ..... do you no how well they yield im thinking 8 tubes 5 red 3 blue with two auto flowers under 24hr light

I just switch from a 600W HPS to a 120x3W LED panel (288 actual Watt) great, Im impressed, penetration and strength of the light match the HPS 110%, but LEDs dont spread out much, so if your looking to cover all of your tent I would advice you to get two "smaller fixtures" instead of one bigger (or get one and see for yourself and add one later one if you like, one will cover two plant`s, IMO one on +240W)

IMO LED is great for scrog, keep the Bud´s right under the LEDs

what kind of LEDs do you use, if I may ask ?

Hey Stegon, apparently you are not allowed, or have not chosen to accept PM's. Anyway, I can't believe you that they don't sell VHO in GB (even though it is the backwater of Europe). Do they sell HO? Tubes I get are German. Doesn't make any sense. I'll check into it with my cousins in Ireland (one of the grandest places on earth). Anyway see what's up with you mail.

but yea the fixtures is hard to find in EU, HO is`t I use em for veg they work fine I use LEDs for flowering, a 120x3W bulldog from Fero EU I customized for flowering, cost is like 349 pound with free shipping I believe


and I can cover two plant`s in a scrog

temperatures just under the LEDs is 1-2C more then ambi not like the +10 with the 600W

I do like T5s :D a lot

and its quite possible to grow great weed under em, just have to adapt to a grow method that suite em, like LEDs scrog is great
(IMO only vertical come close to scrog, as indoor its all about keeping em close to the artificial light)

I have been on this site since January, and all I hear about as far as fluorescent lights go is the HO t5. That light is a good fixture, but the VHO is another planet. No one use's them it seems. They are a great bulb, and really, if you investigate the differences in lumens and spectrum, they will hold there own against any system out there, but with cooler temps and lower costs of operation.

I'll say one thing about LED, is that it gives you some very dense bud. I will get a larger plant with HID or t5's, but final weight there is hardly any difference. Your system looks like it will give you some kick ass results. Excellent.
