You can use dawn if you are rehydrating old soil. So if you had like some pots with some old dried up root balls sitting around. Then yes, you can use dawn. A drop or 2 per gallon of water. However I would not recommend using dawn while in bloom. Dawn will kill some of the microbiology when you first apply (they bounce right back in a couple days) and you dont really want that 2 weeks into bloom. But if you got plants growing you would be better off using something plant based, Yucca, Aloe, or Quillaja Saponin Extract. I like the Q and Aloe. Thats not to say that if you have none of these that a Dawn cant work in a pinch. It just isnt my first choice.I can use dawn instead of yucca extract? That’s tight. I’ll remember that.
I always thought it would hurt the plants somehow.
Im guessing this may kill microbes though or is this safe for them?
Thank you for the comprehensive reply. I’m trying to stick with yucca for the moment, it works well just have to use a lot.You can use dawn if you are rehydrating old soil. I think that you will find that now that you have covered the top of the pot you wont need a whetting agent as often. If you have a local nursery, chances are they have a pile of nursery pots they would let you have (or sell). Get into a plastic pot when you can. Develop a relationship with them. They recycle a lot of stuff.Thank you for the comprehensive reply. I’m trying to stick with yucca for the moment, it works well just have to use a lot.
