Need Help!

I just noticed that my huge WWxBB has a bud worm issue. They look like little catepillars and are a real menace. They tunnel through the stems and are eating and killing buds. My question is what can I do beyond picking the little devils off? The plant looks to be over half way through flower.

Seems to be very common in NorCal. I've been spraying Monterey with spinosad occasionally, don't want to spray too late into flowering. I also have been picking them off my plant that is closest to harvest. They seem to attack the most mature plants first. I can not see myself trying to pick them off all my plants. It would take hours and hours everyday and you still wouldn't get them all. I just bought some Safer Brand Catapiller Killer containing B.T., ill rotate between the spinosad and BT. I don't think you can beat them , only keep them to a minimum. This is my first outdoor grow and they caught me off guard. I hate them worst than any other insect I've run across yet. If things get out of control I'm going to have no choice but to chop early. So far the spraying and picking has kept them at bay, somewhat. If this keeps up with the rest of my plants I don't know what I'll do. Need to find a "Professional Budworm Picker". Good luck, if you find anything that helps, please let us know.

I just battled some caterpillars. I picked them all out. All the decay and fecal mater they left I cut or blew it off with compressed air. Got my frostiest plant the worst. I chopped two down cleaned em out and am drying. Then once again I will pic the cleanest buds and cure. Anything that looks gross I will get rid of.

I post something as well in the outdoor forum about this. "FML " . I was caught of guard too. I got some spray because I have about another three to 4 weeks for my other two.

Thanks for the reply! You have answered my question! It has only hit my big plant that is growing in the ground. I have 6 others that have no issues at all, but they are all in pots. They haven't done to much damage. There was only a small branch that has been affected so far. I would like to let her go at least 3 more weeks. If I can keep them at bay that long then I think the smoke will be descent. It looks to be over the half way mark to me. I would say it looks about 5-6 weeks into flowering. A couple of my other girls look even farther. Anyways those damn worms/caterpillars do get to munching!

That's funny , my main plant that is getting the catapillars is in a smartpot. It's also the plant with the densest buds, it's about 6+wks into flower. My other plants are at about 5+, and a few at about 4wks. So far the spraying is helping, but remember it takes a couple days after spraying to start showing results. We get a lot of wind, almost daily, and I notice when it calms down is when I see the eggs on the the buds. I'm hoping the wind kicks up. I used to bitch about it, I use wind blocks, but now I've noticed it's one of my best defenses againist a lot of different insects. Good luck and have a good harvest.

My frostiness plant got hit the hardest as well I'm keeping what's remaining to hopefully attacked them to it rather them the other plants. Best of luck to you guys on your worm invasion. There a pain in the ass to get under control. There will be tiny tiny little baby fuckers crawling that you will never noticed unless there hanging there they look like a little black dot lol

Well after checking my plants twice today I think the spinosad spraying 3x 3 to 5 days apart helped a whole lot. Only found one budworm and it was deep in a bud, probably never had a chance of eating any part of the plant that I sprayed. I couldn't even find any eggs either. Hopefully that spraying will hold them off til I harvest that plant. I have several more plants not as far along so ill probably have to spray them again, as much as I hate spraying anything during flowering, I refuse to let worms destroy all my hard work. I plan on spraying all my plants with water a couple times before harvest to wash them off as best I can. Also I will stop all spraying definitely before the last two weeks, hopefully sooner.

Somebody should market mosquito netting grow tents for all sizes of plants. I know it would be a huge seller.

spray with neem oil. I sprayed some 1 week from harvest. no choice nock on wood its still looking good. smokeing neem oil is good for you , lubes you up . it will be fine. lol

I said before but the shit to make wedding vails with is real fine netting might get a bunch of that for veg and leave it on three the rest of flower to harvest.

Neem will help the moths/flies that lay the eggs. Go to the hydro store and get monterey spinosad garden insect spray.
Urhighness im hittin up bed, bath, bitches and beyond. They got mosquito nets for bed canopys. They look real shear. And i got a coupon. That or Ann's linens. Shit I sound like a grandma. Cut out the doo doo from the plant. I cut the middle out. And i got my bug zapper.
