so I’m a noob just started growing had plants in red solos haven’t been giving them nutes which I should have been... started seeing weird signs of deficiencies... I was thinking salts because I was using hard water... I transplanted into 3 gal pots and have recently got a water filter hooked up to my sink... I ph at 6.5 using a ocean forest coco mix and haven’t added any nutes should I add nutes ASAP even after watering when they were transplanted just a day ago???

Your medium has nutes in it but not sure of the amounts?
I never feed a seedling before 3 weeks, it works for me.

No I haven’t fed any nutes to these plants and they are about 4 weeks old... I thought they were burning due to hard water and salt build up but I’m thinking they just need nutes... I can’t tell what deficiencies their are though

Salt build up comes from fertilizer if you aren't feeding them you aren't adding salt

If using hard water, it can build up all the same. people have a hard time understanding what a 'salt' actually is! :) To the OP, yes, feed! You're seeing a magnesium and a light potassium deficiency starting...depending how hard your water is, it may contain high amounts of calcium causing a lockout of magnesium and potassium, or you simply don't have enough of it in your medium to begin with. Start feeding!

Thank you man very helpful .... and yes I need to do more research on my salts and build up.... also I have installed the frizzlife under sink water filter which made a hell of a difference with the taste so I’m hoping it will help... will give them a feeding tonight

What is the ppm/ec of your water now? What are you going to feed? What is the name of the soil you use? You mixed ffof and coco, or it's a mix they have?

Depending on what's left in your hard water after going through your filter, you may not need the cal-mag yet. Perhaps the transplant will give her some more food? Though you are using 25% coco, usually it's best to stick with one medium over another, especially when starting out so as to not get confused with the different issues that may arise. Im not familiar with those nutes, maybe try at quarter strength until you get your ppm meter? I would also suggest phi'ng around 6.1-6.3ish for the most part.

So I did not read this until after feeding I did a smidge under half dose and I did use cal mag ..... I will wait until Saturday when I get my ppm meter and will check back in with ya... thanks for your help

I had a friend do this mix(he had no idea what he was doing he got lucky)and got some pretty good yields so I figured I’d try it .... I’m popping new seeds for a new round (gmo x mendo breath) was thinking of just using fox farm ocean forest and running their nutrient line... or do you have any recommendations open to any...

I don't have access to ffof, so im not sure i can suggest something as i don't think what's available here, is available there. I use mostly pro-mix, but over the years, a few other bags have gone in to the mix lol. I say whatever works for you, stick with that! The only reason coco with other mixtures is harder to grow with is because coco will hog some nutrients at the start if not properly buffered, but after some time, it won't, and that can lead to overfeeding for some people who are not used to it. Ph is also better a bit lower for coco than soil or peat mixes, and watering habits are usually more frequent for coco than other mixes, so these differences can cause issues, and the more things in your medium, the harder it is to diagnose and fix issues, especially for a new grower. See how she responds to the feed, take pics daily to see the progress.

Bro your ph is pretty high..Set it 5.5 - 6.2 MAXIMUM..Also, you need cal mag..and more nitrogen! COCO loves cal mag..remember, coco doesnt hold any nutes..you must refill it every day..just water plain phed water when your run off is 0.5 higher than what you put in and try to stabilize the ec where you want ..And in my opinion you should use some synthetic fertilizers..
Good luck!

He's in 25% coco and 75% ffof. Coco does hold some nutes, it is not completely inert, hence the need to buffer it prior to use, so the cec sites can be filled with the proper amount of calcium and magnesium, rather than sodium and potassium that it usually contains most of.

As I told you in your last thread asking basically the same question you're using pH of 6.5 but the Coco in your mix wants a lower PH. You shouldn't mix these two mediums together, try using one or the other for best results. I guess you don't want to hear it so I won't say it again, good luck

No problem bro, ask if you need anything , remember and use the information..
Also,, you can save them..dont throw them! Just adjust the ph and the ec..they are in veg..they will be good afte a while bro..dont kill them! Please....

I had too many plants this last grow to bring to flower, so 6 or 7 of them were not transplanted and left on a table with no direct light or water for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, i decided i'll keep one of them afterall. She was all yellow and dried up! Within a week in her new container, she was coming back, and after the 2nd watering, she exploded with growth! It's a weed, they come back very quickly!
