Need simple advice on my first grow!

I have a few questions that I need answered before I do my first grow!

I was going to start with BubblePonics and just one plant.

1.) What is the differential in lighting between stages? (starting, vegetation, flowing)

2.) Is BubblePonics (making my own system) the logical way to do my first grow? Or will it be harder than just doing soil?

3.) What type of seed should I beginner start out with if I am not interested in doing reg?

1) You want lighting in the blue spectrum for veg, 6500k preferably. For flowering you want lighting in the red spectrum, around 2500k.
2) Soil is WAAAAY easier.
3) It really depends on what you want. The amount of available space, yield you want, time form seed to harvest. All that good stuff. I like autos just because you dont have to worry about flipping the light schedule and they harvest in about 2 months. Honestly though, I would reccomend using bagseed for your first grow. You are bound to run into a lot of problems with your first grow, so if you accidently kill one you aren't wasting any money.

It really varies bro. There isn't a set schedule. Some plants need more water than others do. Hell, I have 6 of the same strain and 2 of them need to be watered every day, but the other four need it about every 2 days. It really just depends on wha tthe plant needs. I generally water when the top of the soil gets dry. You can also do it by weight. When you set up your containers with the soil, water the soil until you get a little run off, then feel about how much it ways. When it gets a lot lighter, add more water. Yah dig?

I would run soil for a little while to get the hang of shit. Personally soil is the only way to get really good tasting nugz, but thats me. Anyways you could run a metal halide for veg but I use cfl's, one bulb per plant 120w, and they can be kept an inch away from your plant without burning them. Plus they take less electricity than a regular household light bulb. Use the blue ones not the orange. I use them all the way from seedling or cutting to flower and get dark green super healthy bushes after 4 to 5 weeks. For flower you need a hid light though with an hps bulb. For one plant you could get away with a 400 to get good yield but a 600w is the best behind a 1000w. 1000's watters get much hotter though and require more ventilation but will give you the best yields. As far as seeds go I would go with an indica or indica dominant strain that finishes quick. Indicas are shorter more compact plants that will finish faster than sativas. Sativas usually take at least 12 weeks to ripen and grow tall. Hope this helped some good luck.

I think I'll try some indica dominants.
Does my seed need to be femanized since I'm only using 1 plant?

Feminized seeds are a lot more likely to turn out female. Last I heard I think it was like 85% or something like that. So if you're only doing one plant that would be the way to go. Femmed seeds do cost more though. And a little more about lighting, you can use florescents for flowering to. You just won't get as muchout of the plant, but floros are a shit ton cheaper.

I've heard it time and time again and just am not getting it, see, I have done hydro but never soil. I just don't understand wtf people think is so difficult about hydro. Everyone and their dog does soil anymore and they recommend it. If you're growing for yield go hydro. Most failures aren't usually due to the growing method.

Okay, I tried bubbleponics for my first grow too. It's a LOT of work and really hard to get it right. I ended up pulling the pump (cuz it make the reservoir really hard to keep cool) and just leaving the airstone for Deep Water Culture...much simpler than bubbleponics but still harder than soil (I have some soil plants going too).

For your first grow, if you are going to purchase seeds, you should get feminized ones, then you don't have to put in a lot of hard work and time only to discover you've got a worthless male.

One strain I'm growing right now that I am having SO much fun with is Red Cherry Berry. It is from Barney's Farm, which some folks will tell you is NOT top-shelf, but as a noobie, it doesn't matter. It's still good weed. The Red Cherry Berry is bushy, fast growing, and tight. There is so much growth in there I can't even sort it out. She is hugely bushy and bigger every time I go in the grow room.

If you're set on trying hydro, go for it, but loose the bubbleponics. Its a pain. Just use the airstone and put that in a 5 gal bucket with a netpot lid and you're good. MUCH simpler.

Nah, I told the OP to go hydro if he wanted (I did both soil AND hydro and I like both for their various reasons). I do think soil is more forgiving for the noobie but hydro rocks hard.

Bubbleponics is a lot like the waterfarm set up...where the nutes are pumped up and over the top of the plants to drip back down into the reservoir. I think of sprayers as more airponics, but I don't know zippity do dah about that... LOL

I love airstones... I'm kinda like the blow fish in Finding Nemo... "Bubbles!!!!!"

It depends on who you ask. I like them just because they are low work. They do their own thing when they want to do it. You can keep them under constant, 24/0 light and they will flower whenever they damn well please to. They also tend to stay smaller. They are fast harvesters too. Normally from seed to harvest in 8 or 9 weeks. If you want to try an auto, go with the Dinafem Fruit Auto. I've heard really good things about it being very hearty and super easy to grow. I'll post a link for you.
