You haven't considered cloning from the top performers and only cultivating their offspring?

But, sad to say, your situation is pretty normal. You are putting quite a bit of trust in genetics that you could control.

On the next batch, sprout, seed, and veg much more than you are able to flower, keep the bushiest, shortest, healthiest plants as mothers, flower or crap the rest, and discover the joys of perpetual harvesting. :)

i have never cloned as of yet ive always started from seed.. i thought my spread of light might be wrong or something i was not doing right,, it just seemed funny out my two grows i got two great plants twice.. iam thinking of going flood drain ,,do you think it could be a light position fault??

Yeah dudes right to get the same height and consitency then you will havve to clone the healthiest lady you got. Otherwise you leaving that in the seed breeders hands. They usually have poor qualitys genes,

Not if you're rotating your plants.

If pretty simple, I hope you didn't miss the signs: they'll grow towards the 'heat-center' of the light, and if that means not straight up(unless you've topped/lsted or something) then they need to be adjusted. Careful 1/4 to 1/2 turns everyday will not hurt.

Also, you know you want your taller plants on the outset of the garden, and the shorter ones towards the middle, correct? This will help with even distribution of light across the largest area.

You should give cloning a try, like I said, get the best seeds you can, sprout a ton, pick the best and leave them in flower.

Even if you kill 1000 clones over a period of tries, you can still keep your mothers alive and vegging until you figure it out.

You might still need to rotate, but by flowering 8(?) of genetically identical plants, growth, harvest times/yields and many other factors will be very closely related.

nice one for that minad i will try and rotate as much.. as possible and try my hand at cloning... can you give any thoughts on flood drain systems??

do you think it would be better than coco???

Go with the system you can build yourself. If that means a simple ebb and flow, sure, works great. Coco can be used in virtually any growing system.

Theres a million DIY guides and videos on the net, watch until your eyes bleed than decide on a custom system thats right for you.

FYI: Aerophonics are the best of the best when it comes to any type of growing system, and they are just as simple as any other system. After you build and use one you'll be in a wonderful position to create an even better one, with more growing chambers, better root management, bigger sprayers to avoid clogs. Point being, you should go for the best. PH, EC(PPM), correct nutrient mixtures are not rocket science, and will teach you as you go.

As far as price, if you're building your system yourself, which you should,(unless you're doing a commercial product with investor relations to manage and such, you are not.) it'll all come out around the same, unless looking at the extremely cheap soil options V the most expensive active-hydro systems.

Anyways, yes, I do think that if you are not using a at-least simi-automated system you should be, there are simple things you can do to greatly increase yield and quality(the name of the game, no?) and you will learn them very quickly. As you can probably already attest to after your first two grows.

Rambling there a bit so I'll cut it off here, GL

Simple things like diff veg length and size yo flip em can add variables. Get yurself on a routine...and you will be more consistant....that goes for the same strain. Diff strains every grow will obviously be diff. lol

good luck !

How much light are you giving them?

Something to keep in mind is that you are capable of yielding 1g for ever 1W of light you have (i.e. 150W=150g). That is if you do everything correctly. It's simple math...150W/8 plants=18g a plant, and thats if you do everything 100% correctly. Light exposure is very important for buds during flowering. If you have enough light then disregard this. Good luck

i was using a 600w hps light on my grow..it seems to be the plants directly under the light boom the rest around them are not so great...
