need some advice

So I use to post here a lot but then the site changed and a girl moved in etc. Anyway on to the issue. I have a XML 150 from advanced LEDs. It was bought by an ex gf and we no longer speak. Well I noticed yesterday that 2 clusters of white lights are out. Today I contacted advanced led and asked to have it repaired but they won't do anything without talking to the original buyer. It will be in use until June regardless but what should I do with it after? I have no idea how to repair or replace anything. Sorry for the book and thanks for the replies ahead of time.

2 clusters of whites are out, so you mean two of the four white XML LEDs are not lighting up? The xml150 has 4 XML white single chips and 4 clusters of multicolored monos.

If just two of the four whites are out, pop open the case and check how many drivers are connected to the whites. It may be two white xmls to a driver. If that's the case, grab any driver that matches up with XML spec sheet and replace it.

Might be a whole different issue though...

Yea...look closely at the leds that are out. If they look burned or different than the working ones you may need to replace the chips.

If the chips look fine than open the case and follow the wires from the out leds to the driver. Usually the specs of the driver are posted on the case. Buy a similar one off of ebay or such and you should be back in business.

No I mean like 2 of the entire clusters are out on the one side. I'm mistaken. There was some red 2. But yeah. 2 of the 4 clusters of lights are out. Plant still seems to be doing well at least

All replies are welcome. A lot of people just like to screw people over so they wouldn't have to deal with it. Upon your reply however I realize your original post was not out of malice or being greedy. Maybe I'll just keep it for supplemental lighting? Thinking I'll go with area 51 next though.

Yeah I like the other solutions better; fixing it would be fun but also challenging if it's the only light you got running. You could always later on retrofit the fixture into housing COBS. I believe @Cococola36 did that once and has a thread floating round here.

The light has actually worked well. Sigh.. I'm not much of a fixer but maybe I'll give it a shot. What's the worst that could happen? Not like I have many options. I wish I knew somebody that could or would fix it.

Light should be under warranty. No need to tell them your g/f purchased it for you. Let them know its defective. That light has not been out for 3 years, so it has to be under warranty.

To late, they have to talk to the person that bought it
