Your breeding plan is a terrible idea. Get regular seeds.

Also if you are back crossing it will take 4-5 BX to get a genetically similar strain.
remember each time you will get 50% of the genetic material...But! It recombines...thus you will never have that strain copied.
Furthermore, the alleles expressing certain traits may not carry.

Good luck.

Hey thanks for the info, i am actually not using the silver and used regular pollen for all of my intentional pollination and have moved forward from the drawn out plan after a fair amount of research and talking with some local breeders. I understand that i may not have a genetically identical version of my favorite strain but the whole idea is to get as close as possible and if it takes 4 or 5 bx's to get there im totally willing to put in the time and work. Im not trying to just chuck pollen on shit and hope for the best. I recognize and have picked traits from both parent plants that i will be looking for in the progenies of my cross, then i will continue to further back cross and stablize the traits im looking for through pheno runs with the progenies and parent plants. I enjoy the experimentation and further involvement this brings me into growing and the possibilities that lie in breeding, also tye thought of creating something unique, stable, and top quality excites me and im willing to work at it till i have accomplished what i set out to do... so far some have been helpful and positive about this thread and i appreciate the positivity and all the information you guys have brought to the table for me. I do however like the criticism and skepticism because i feel like it gives me a bit of a mind set like watch me do what i set out to do because im that type of person lol. In anycase though id appreciate any help or advice from someone knowledgable in the field and im not asking for trade secrets just good solid grounding and direction to follow. You say my breeding plan is terrible but why? And you seem like you know what you are talking about so please do share and help me move away from a terrible breeding program. Tell me what i am doing wrong and why, dont just simply say its a bad idea and not further explain oneself.

@Gardenator Perhaps you should re-read what I posted. If you cannot deduce inherently why this is a poor idea based off my statement this is where your efforts to read about Mendel genetics would be ideal.

There are no trade secrets that aren't in books. Check out corn and flower breeding programs. They can show you how commercial breeders select crops and verify traits to bring to market.

Again, you plan to Bx 4-5 times? what a waste of time when you may be able to find something similar and get closer to the profile you desire in perhaps a F1 or F2. 6 months vice 2-3 years.

Its about time Gardenator.

This is awesome thank you, im going to check out mendel genetics and the corn and flower programs as well, i would ideally like to find something much sooner then 2 years down the road, if i did find something in an f1 or f2 batch it would be killer. Thanks again

Hello again everyone, going to be getting started with creating my own strain, i have been working with a strain for a while now and i would love to try to bring out some more genetic potential or add some genetic potential lol... in any case i dont really know where to start besides germing the seeds i popped a few days ago... my most important question is if i take an accidental cross (unknown male with know mother strain) and use the males to pollenate my lemon deisel and take those f1's to breed it back with my lemon deisel and each new generation following, could i and how many times would it take to breed out the genetics of the cross and be left with the lemon deisel genetics? Is this possible (seems possible and seems even probable to me lol)... any help with my main question along with anyone who has helpful advice for a new breeder in making calculated and educated selection choices to build a decent strain i can call my own (not tryna win a cannabis cup or an emerald cup here just want my own unique smoke that smokes well and gets you really good and stoned lol... thanks everyone
You could just clone your lemon diesel 2x, use STS and change one to a boy. Now you can make lemon diesel seeds and know it is lemon diesel. You can grow out other strains, find that special girl, and do everything with female plants. No male plants and no male selection.

What you're talking about is called cubing, and Cindy99 is a good example of a cubing project to preserve Princess in seed form. He took Princess and hit it with a male Shiva skunk and named it P.50, the 50 signifying the percentage of Princess the cross contained. Then he took P.50 and crossed it back to the original Princess female and named that cross P.75, and he back crossed it to the Princess female until he got to P.94 and crossed that yet again back to the original Princess thus making Cindy99, and making the closest version of princess in seed form hypothetically. I imagine it'd be a good idea to cross your prized female to an entirely different looking male for easy genetic markers. So if your female has nice fat wide leaves with purple stems and incredibly serrated fan leaves than find a male with that similar genetic marker among others you notice so you're back crossing to your original female with a male that is as similar to it as you can get.
