need some help with screening my crop

Hello folks,

I have a 4x8 grow tent with (2) 600w lights. I have been flowering 28-30 sour queen each cycle. I veg for 8-weeks topping at week four. I have been experementing with screening to improve my yield. I have been averaging a little over a pound fer cycle. I'm growing in 5 gal. grow bags (soil).

What are you useing for a screen in your tent ?

Does it increse yield ?

How do you manage the plants in the back that you cant reach ?

Any help on this subject would be much appreciated.

I believe that 30 is too many if you are screening properly, depending on strain as well. I have a 4 x 4 Jardin tent with a 600w hps and I currently have 4 plants filling a screen, but going to two and hydro on next grow.

I use a plastic fencing found in Lowe's garden center.... I used two heavy duty thick bungees runing on the sides and used small bungees to attach fence/screen.

As for reaching back plants, try inserting a pvc pipe through screen and down ito bucket/bag and then pour.

30 is definitely a bit much. I've heard of people using 6 - 600's to do around 50 plants, so I'd say you're pushing it. But either way, you have been getting pretty good harvests. Averaging about half a zip per plant. Where as if you were to put 6 plants in there you could probably increase your per plant yield to 2.5 zips, but still be a bit below the harvests your getting now.

But one advantage to switching to 6 plants would be you could shorten the veg time by about 3 weeks.

Hydroponically speaking, he can get close to a pound per plant in a waterfarm, using a high producer like Big bud, papaya, mango, etc. I've seen it done with Pineapple Express too, 16 oz, one plant.

I was JUST talking with someone about Waterfarms. This is definitely a good option if you feel like switching to hydro.

Were you referring to ScottyBalls?

Here is a screen i made out of 1x1 and string. 5'x5' under a single thousand. NINE PLANTS.

Gentlemen, Thank you very much for your response.

I originally started out with a waterfarm (funny you should suggest that) I liked the system and had pretty good results but boy o boy what a lot of work. Hydroponics seems to be a lot more work than soil. I am operating in a location with no running water and no drain. So water changes became a huge pain in the ass. Not to mention trying to wash and reuse the hydroton.

Also, I found soil to be a lot more forgiving. I have had a time or two where I came in and found my Waterfarm was malfunctioning. Top drip not dripping, buckets leaking. It was getting frusterating. Once I switched over to soil The results were awesome. So that being said I would really rather stick to soil and try to increase my yeild in a different manner.

However I will fully admit that my yeilds were larger with hydro. But if I thought I could get a pound per plant I sure as hell may think about switching back !!!!!!!!!!

I also appreciate the feedback on the screening options. I will do some further research and experement with a couple of these options and see what works.

Has anyone experimented with tomato Cages. I thought about trying to build a couple of tomato cages out of a screen and dropping them over the bags. Do you think something like this may work ?
