Need some help!

Not strictly a newbie but certainly am with autos and have always struggled getting tbe watering right. These are 11 days old (Mephisto Genetics) under an amare se500 (only monos for now), they are in half and half allmix/lightmix and have been given nothing but plain water. The 12l pots were given 1l each at the start and then 250ml around day 6, it has now been 5 days since water and although the do look a little droopy im not 100% convinced I didn’t slightly overwater the first time. The medium does feel dry however I noticed there is a circle of condensation under the pots (fabric) and they do still feel a little damp on the bottom but I’m unsure if this is relevant. Anyway! Do we think they’re ready for water? Look ok for their age? Any opinions welcome. Peace

Id wait another day or two.

Pickup a plant and then pick it up again when you water it..


You should be able to tell after rhat when they need water .


Or watch their leaves , when the bucket is lighter and they start to droop their thirsty But its not good to totally let them dry out either .


Have you considered making a sub irrigated planter or octopot so you dont have to worry about when to water any more ??

Thank you. I think the pots would be a little complex for my needs and would rather get the hang of hand watering. Super cool though! I have been using all the methods and the medium is dry at least two inches down. However the condensation ring under the pots made me second guess myself. The leaves certainly don’t look as upright and perky as yesterday but I don’t wanna slow em down by overdoing it

Top watering. The first watering (that the germed seed was placed in to) was 1L slowly applied 6 days later they then had 250ml poured in a smallish circle around them (this is where I think I should have waited longer although they did feel
Dry) . This was 5 days ago. They defo feel noticeably lighter than when first watered. I do think they need it I’m just not 100% convinced and don’t wanna ruin it as I have had some really successful and some really shit runs! Thanks again

If the fabric is still damp at the bottom there is still some water in the pot, at least that's what I've noticed in my fabric pots. Wash your hands good & stick a finger in your medium. If you're dry 2" from the top water them a bit. Also, I put a fan blowing on the pots. This will give more airflow through the fabric. As a good rule of thumb use 0.25l of water per gallon of medium!

Also, if you check my journal you can see how I've watered my autos. That should help you out a bit.

Haha yes! I'm strongly considering these my next run. Seems so much easier then hand watering. Pain in the ass to water my plants now that I trained them. Thanks for posting this to remind me to get my ass in gear for the next run..

For those of us who don't know what
all mix/light mix is would you mind expounding a bit..

The best way to learn to water properly (thanks to Mr Shrubber, now unofficially dubbed the Shrubber System) is to fill up a sample pot the same size you have your plants in & set it aside

then when you think you want to water, compare the weight of the plant to be watered to the sample pot of dry medium

wait till there about the same weight before you water

This system will have you watering correctly in just a few cycles, good luck

I missed the part that he can't pick em up, lol..:mrgreen: oh well I'm staying with the Shrubber system, I post that at least once a week anyway, it's a great system, works well
