Yes, most suggest that mothers are at least 2 months old, but of course older is fine and younger can be...in a pinch. Mother plant should also be in veg state, but it also is possible to get clones from those in flower...while time length to rooting increases with each week since flip it seems.
My experience only includes 2 strains but neither come close to doubling in size post flip. 33% maybe. I would really have to witness a 2ft plant become a 6 ft plant to believe it.
. I contend that it is often quoted but seldom really experienced. At least not with many flipped after reaching 2'. But sure, if you do not know the strain and ceiling height is tight it is probably a good idea to leave plenty of room.
