need to cool 2 600w hps aircooled hoods. what cfm

looking to keep 2 600w hps lights cool in a single line setup. what size fan will i need? i don't want too much noise so i don't want to buy a 400cfm can fan or anything.

whats quiet and will get the job done?

I run a Suncourt 6" In-line Duct Fan - 300 cfm to my 600 hps lights in the winter it works fine room stays at 78 in the summer I have a 6" Axial Fan w/cord - 235 cfm taped on the first light I use foil tape to hold it on then ducting to the second light then after the second is the suncourt 6'' inline the axial is a little lound but damm that thing works great it pushes alot of air trust me you will be happy just try to keep the run straight not that many bends good luck

I use a vortex 6". but yea it's loud. Just build a box to muffle the sound. Or buy a bigger fan than you need and use a controller to slow it down, it will be quieter than a 6" at full speed. I am ending up putting a booster fan inline with mine as well, because of bends and the length of the duct.

Is blowing or sucking power better? should i blow air pass the bulb or pull? sorry to jump in

couldn't agree more, those fans are loud, I built a box and it has cut down the noise 50%

I pull or suck, that's just what i do though

you wanna suck the air out

Yea it is better to suck, but make sure you have it COMPLETELY sealed, or your gonna be sucking stinky air out with it and venting it. Versus pushing, and the air can only leak through your air cooled light into the room, and not do much harm.
