Need to flush - Is AquaSafe water conditioner safe?

Good day all,

I need to flush and if I follow the 3:1 gallon recommendation, I would need far more containers for tap water to sit out a couple of days than I can obtain.

That being said, I was in a local store recently and picked up a bottle of AquaSafe Water Conditioner with BioExtract (manufactured by Tetra for aquariums), that purportedly neutralizes chlorine and heavy metals. 1.69 ounces (50 ml) treats 100 gallons of water and at a couple of dollars per bottle it seems ideal; that is of course if the following question results in a positive response.

Does anyone have experience with this product or know if it is safe?

Thank you in advance.

You can use tap water that you ph and on the last amount you run through the pot use your good water.

Hope this helped.

No experience with it, never heard anyone metion anyting like it, and wouldn't consider it. What if the effect causes you to have to flush with h2o anyway?? Just use water, make a way to get enogh of it. Having the h2o set out several days is great, 24 hrs is good, but overnight will work too. Take it from to cold faucet and let it run 30secs before u fill your water container to minmize the crap you don't want in your plants. Hope it works out.

Lovely, so next question... if I filled three bath tubs with water, how long would they need to sit to dissipate the chlorine and be safe for flushing? All in all, I need around 450-500 gallons to do a proper flush; that is, according to the 3 gallons of water per every gallon of pot space ratio that I've read. I have mainly five gallon buckets so that factors out to 15 gallons per bucket.

See my predicament? :-/

OK what are you flushing? Soil or rocks? What do you feed your girls with? Organic or Chemical? Why must you flush, to get rid of salts or do you have a toxicity issue or something? What do you mean by "strip roots" ?

Technically neither; but for all tense and purposes soil. I'm using a mix of 3 parts Sphagnum Peat Moss, 1 part Vermiculite, 1 part Perlite and a touch of garden lime. Being my first grow, it's been my learning the mistakes experience. During veg I used Vigoro 24-8-15 and when I switched to 12/12 3 weeks ago and started them on Super Bloom 12-55-6. I didn't check my PH at all until recently and due to poor lighting (until a short time ago) I veg'd far too long; embarrassed to say this but... near 5 months. As it stands presently, my soil is acidic (around 4) and due to the time in veg, I fear salt build up and obviously experiencing some PH lockout on a few of them and felt it prudent to flush and reset the balance of things. I just purchased the GH PH Kit with PH Up/Down and intend to adjust everything after flushing; as things are no doubt out of balance. Surprisingly, most of them are doing okay and fairly healthy.

On the "strip the roots" things; someone I know who grows said that if I flushed with tap water and then did the last two gallons with distilled water as I intended, that it would strip the roots and harm the plants. I'm a noob at this and not sure what he meant, but honestly I didn't expect any of them to grow. By all accounts I've been told I'm doing pretty good for my first time; but cognizant of the fact they need some TLC to reach the finish line.

That Vigoro is all chemical, and has no Magnesium or calcium at all!! You must have been getting it from your water. The soil is technically inert so chlorine will be fine. I would go ahead and flush with tap as is... the chlorine in it will not harm your roots . Chlorine is only harmful to true soil grows where beneficial bacteria thrive. If you are still worried, go ahead and rest the water overnight. Is the Super Bloom From AN? If it is, it also is all chemical. Aquasafe? Damn gamble.

Says Green Light on it. I think I'm going to spread it out; I don't have enough jugs to do all the plants at once with letting it sit. I'm going to err on the side of caution.
