Need wisdom

ok so here's the deal. I recently started a little grow. Nothing too big. I planted 3 plants about 1 month apart. Only because the first one I planted was bag seed and the other 2 were given to me. One was purp and the other one sour. So I'm using Kellogg's all purpose potting soil and currently have 4 40w CFL light bulb. Seems to be working. My only concern is I want to speed up the veg cycle so they can grow more and faster. I have them in a 2x4x5 grow tent. Haven't really given them any nutes although I did water with all purpose plant food a few times (10-10-10). I just want wisdom on what I should do to perfect my grow. Tips on nutes-
Maybe add more lights? I was thinking of buying 2 more 40w CFL? Also would I need more lighting once I switch to flower?
Just looking for tips from experienced growers to perfect my humble garden.

If you want bigger quicker you need to keep them warm , make sure there is ventillation and more lights, lights, lights. If you give nutes with not enough lighting you may run the chace of elongated growth quickly.

Word. How do you feel about cfls? How many more would you say. I read 40cfl is 150w incandescent ? So I'm running 600w.

Being honest, Im A Hid lighting guy but Ive heard of people having awesome results with cfl. Some swear by it with fab results. As much lighting as you can afford to run AND keep the temps under control. Some people talk about light bleaching from too bright but I think its all about heat and distance from the bulbs heat to the canopy

When your counting watts, only count what you are pulling from the wall. Ignore the "equivalent to" numbers.

I'm an HID guy too, Here's a great resource for learning how to grow with CFLs.
